Not bad for a driver and cruise nite car. Way more than quarter panel rust. Once the rust repairs were started it will take a lot of replacement and repair work.
I believe I'd just treat the rust, touch up the paint, and find the surf.

You'd be surprised it is actually only in the quarters. The wheels wells are solid, the floors are solid, the rear floor is solid, the tailgate is solid. It was pulled out of the desert out west. I'll post more pics.

Thanks. I was noticing some tailgate and lower front fender rust. Assuming water got into the rear section it's amazing the rear floor wasn't affected.
    That's a great body style.

This one might be the exception that breaks the rule - "Rust is ALWAYS worse than it looks...."

Yeah it's really weird. Like I said it was in the desert and the whole car was bone dry but I vacuumed 20 gallons of dirt and sand out of those quarters when I brought it home. Which I'm guessing is what caused it to gather moisture right there.

Those are some great detailed photos. Should help as a selling point. Almost looks like a good deruster cleaner and very gentle S.O.S. or steel wool would get the worse of the rust off the outside. Inside can be just scuffed and treated with Rustolium or similar.
Since we moved back to Illinois I see two and three year old vehicles completely rusted through the wheel wells and rockers. Roadsalt here is worse than I remembered.

Yeah I've got some friends in the Illinois/Indiana area and it's really bad! This thing came out of the desert in southwestern Idaho close to Nevada.
