    The electric wipers were an option in 56. My dad had them on his 4 door hardtop with a padded dash!

    I drove around all those years with vacuum wipres, because I didn't even know they were an option. The padded dash either. Oh, well.

    My '55 Chevy wagon had the electric wiper which replaced the original vacuum which sucked!:rofl2:

    I remember my first two cars and some antique cars with vacuum wipers. Just when I really needed them, to climb a hill or pass, they'd stop sucking. That really sucked.
    But when on a car that wasn't used for years those vacuum wipers were easy to reseal.
    I remember buying '57 Chevy electric wiper motors for under $10 at swap meats. Last I read they are several hundred now.
    My '55 wagon does not have the old cable system anymore. We replaced it with modern under dash motor and rods.
