I finally got the wiper motor out of the door - ran jumper wires straight to the battery with a charger connected set to jump start - I could feel a vibration in the motor so I hit it several times with a large ballpeen hammer - NO MOVEMENT - Is there anything inside the case I can try (have not disassembled anything yet)
Brushes and armature issue, or gear drive is jammed. I'd check the gear drive. If you've got it that far, the brushes and armature are easily checked. Lube up the gear drive with water-proof grease (white, not lithium grease). You can clean up the armature if it's just slightly warn down, no deep grooves, you can use 320 grit to clean up any slight wear and tear. If the brushes are chipped, too grooved, or too warn down, you'll need new ones.
Our family got caught in one of your July rains, back in 1971. Could barely see the taillights of the car in front of us, one car-length away at 10 MPH! Your too modest - That's not rain, that's a down-pour.
you get used to the down-pour after awhile - it's just rain anymore I appreciate all the information provided - After spraying inside the motor housing with electra-motive (2 large cans) and connecting the leads to a battery and charger on jump start and wailing on it with a ball pean hammer - the motor is now functioning in what seems to be a smooth and quite spinning motion. Yeah Thanks again!
