A sad end to my Truckster. I was asked to run to the store while at work. No biggie, I'm a good employee. While returning some idiot was too busy checking his Facebook to drive and plowed into me at 50. I'm in the hospital with nothing else to do but think about how bad I'm hurting so I am making a post. The Truckster is dead.

Hey, I know you've been shaken like a balloon on a string in a hard wind, but if you decide you want to try again/keep going, A) this one will provide lots of parts, and B) I have two pair of '83 taillights. Nobody's buying them, so if you do decide to, I'll just let you have them, and I'll even pay the shipping.

I really appreciate that. I will take you up on that if you let me pay the shipping. I'm pretty bummed about the car so this is really appreciated. It took a long time to find that one, finding a good car won't be easy. Any leads?

Start here in the For Sale section, then ePay, C/L, then Craigzilla, and put up here that you're looking, ask people to keep their eyes peeled, list what you need for a righteous build.

This is sad. You had the right wagon, the right ideas, and the passion to build it. I know you can't take your mind off the Truckster. But for now think about getting better and going home.
According to those photos that accident should never have happened.:mg:

 Oh no! sorry about the wagon, I've been watching the project unfold riveted to my screen enjoying the attention to detail and was waiting to see the finished product...
I'm sad that this wagon met it's untimely demise...:( but I'm glad you're O.K! :D
Hang in there, another truckster will end up in your driveway, and with all this knowledge you've already learned with this one will pass on to the next.

:yikes:I mean whaaaaaaat?!?!:yikes: There's not paying attention and then there's not seeing a twenty foot barge in front of you. Especially one that is so unique. This has ruined my afternoon. If your in the hospital, where is the other driver? Lemme guess they're probably skipping around somewhere taking selfies and complaining About their minor scratches and bruises. Hope your doing ok. Try small claims court and we'll all vouch for you on here as well your documented time and effort that, THAT was not a car it was a family truckster and that = priceless. On a lighter note, did anyone ask where the movie set cameras were?

    Man, that is really unfortunate.
I can empathize, I had an experience once where a car I worked on extensively was wrecked. It's painful to look at, especially after you've put sweat equity into it.
I am happy to hear that you weren't seriously hurt.

Here are some better pictures of her. My wife thinks if I had been in my Challenger I would not have walked away. I agree.

Thank you for all the well wishes!

The roof is bent in 3 places and the whole car seems to curve toward the ground in the rear. The rear doors are jammed shut. After reseting the inertia switch she runs. Now the fun starts as they send an insurance appraiser out to tell me what its worth. Unfortunately she was ugly. But still a rust free, straight, nice interior original paint 31 yr old wagon. They don't grow on trees. As she was when I got her, refinishing the wood trim and vinyl would have made her mint. As is, all the mechanical stuff was done and she was a week or two from paint and interior swap. She was close. Worst time for this to happen. The frame is bent and the fuel tank is pinched between the rear foot well and rear diff. She has a full tank of gas. I'm lucky she didn't go up in flames. I hope to be posting a new car up here in a few weeks, I need to locate one first.

Good luck getting well and finding a replacement Wagon Queen. I know it won't be easy. Hopefully you can salvage much of the other wagon. Also now you have a window for pattern.
My computer is so slow I only saw a few photos but I'm guessing the vehicle that rear ended you was a jacked up truck with a jacked up driver. It doesn't look like your bumper was hit.

I hate to say this but... if it was the front end it would have been a good candidate for the Truckster after the jump.

It pains me to see that much damage on that wagon, the bumper took very little of the impact it looks like... just seemed to shove the entire rear body into itself... :( but on that note it shows why they used wagons in demolition derby's, its a safe car!

I guess I can say only 2 people have totaled out a Family Truckster and I'm one of them. It's an elite group.
