I just bought this nice solid 1965 BUICK SPECIAL DELUXE WAGON ( flat top ) wagon and this is what I saw and have concluded based on the short time I had with her the car has a 300CI 2bbl Buick, 3 speed manual trans, manual steering and brakes, manual side and rear window, roof rack, radio, factory Air conditioning, all tinted windows and side glass, what appears to be original interior ( recovered front seat ), newer carpet, remote drivers mirror, day night mirror As for, what I consider rare options, it has a 60/40 split rear seat ( no third row seating ) with factory rear seat belts as well as a Buick rubber rear matt, the stock wheels have stainless trim rings with dog dish hub caps and possibly a rear speaker on the drivers side, these are all things ive never seen before pretty cool ve never seen very cool if you ask me the car has been restored to a nice level driver quality, the paint is very nice and could not see any significant issues anywhere, nice shine and no dust or runs, minor pitting on the dash chrome, window cranks, roof rack. the headliner was installed a little loose, and will need to be addressed, ill replace some of the parts with my spare parts that are better. the engine appears to run very, and everything works as it should. The clutch worked well and braked as well as a 52 year old car should over all I am extremely pleased with the car and once I do some simple upgrades it be an even better car
Ah, three on the tree. Is the shifter in good shape? I remember one of my teachers in junior high that had a '60 Chebby; he was outside the school in the morning, swearing up a blue streak, because he jammed the synchronizers.
Terrific score! I especially like the base models and this one is clean. Are you going to put the stock wheels back on? She looks great! Pete
I wonder if they had surfboards in mind or skis or both or neither, when they invented 60/40 seating. That's cool that the only option is the A/C which is necessary in a wagon for summer driving. Everything else manual, including the tranny keeps the vehicle simple, lighter and more dependable. 3- and 4's on the trees are cool.
