Replaced the rear suspension on the Magnum the original bushings were toast, $800.00 for upper & lower diagonal links, toe links plus control arms. It took around 4 hours to replace everything including dropping the rear cradle so I could remove 3 of the bolts. Having rust checked the car every year since new made the process easy as every bolt came out without any problems, now I need to make an appointment to get the alignment done.

Did you prep the bolts before reinstallation? (kevdupuis: "D'oh!"):biglaugh:And was there any sign of beginning rust you needed to arrest before reassembly?

Twelve years of rust check protected the bolts quite well all I did was knock off the dirt accumulation with a wire brush checked the lock nuts, reinstalled the bolts along with the new components, loaded the suspension and torqued everything in.

Working under a car as heavily rust checked as mine is like working on a car with a major oil leak, everything is coated and wet with dirt & dust mixed in creating a pretty well sealed and rust free under body.

Changed oil in the Suburban to Amsoil Heavy Duty Diesel 5w40. Since it also has their bypass filtration I expect this engine will last much longer.

I'm looking forward to finding how well Fluid Film works on this Suburban. The places I sprayed haven't gotten worse this last winter.

I replaced the current weird seatbelts with a set of original seatbelts, imported from the US, complete with the roof mounted belts.

Unfortunately I destroyed one buckle, so I'll need one to replace it. Rare stuff here in Germany, I can tell...

Hubby has changed two of the three motor mounts on Lil Sis. We will have to take her to a garage to have the third one changed because of the location. Hopefully this will completely cure the hard shift. I'm planning to take her to work on Thursday...eeee...

One can of R134 has been sacrificed to the Suburban's blown A/C line I didn't know about. I also reattached the diamond plate to a rear door but have to screw it in, I won't trust only gasket adhesive to keep it on.

It is located at the back of the motor where the transmission bolts on. Hubby is really getting to old to be getting under there to do this kind of work. I wanted to take it to the garage to have all of them changed he wanted to do it.

Yeah, that one requires the car to be jacked up enough to sbinny under, then you have to stack wood on the jack's saddle to be able to lift the trans.

Sorry for taking so long with an update, its been busy here. The car has been running since early March. Here is some photos of the custom venetians when they were being fitted. Then the dyno and some more recent photos. Still a few small things to finish but going well. from Downunder
