https://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/cto/6107493492.html Need to find a good home for our baby. She shows wear for her age - woodgrain is faded and cracked in spots, but is in overall good shape for her 50,000 miles. Some minor cosmetic touch-ups with a full engine compartment detailing (block and trans pulled) on her 460CID 4bbl. This is not a show car, but a functioning classic. $12,500 OBO - Motivated to sell.
Priced far too high for "not a show car". As a "functioning classic", I assume it was driven around the Detroit area. If the roads there are anything like they were in 2001, it means the suspension on this car has been beaten until it cried for mercy (and it will have gotten none from those roads). A very attractive car. It just needs a more attractive and realistic price.
Cloth interior not usually seen on Colony Park wagons. Appears no cruise or tilt wheel. Can't tell if door switch is power window or locks; doesn't have both. Appears clean, would like to see the underside.
I love that color. Looks pretty clean. Would like to see pics of the undercarriage. Do / did they use salt in that area? I've gotta wonder if there's any rust.
Detroit has some of the worst roads in the county; winter salt and potholes that swallow entire vehicles.
Of course they use salt in Harrison County MI. It is in Michigan!!!!!! About an hour away from me. But there are some rust free cars to be found. There are a lot of snow birds here that live in the southern US when there is a chance of cold weather. I have picked up some nice low mileage cars that were never driven in the snow or salt due to the owners being in Florida or Arizona. But always wise to check out the underside. The car looks to have Power windows and manual locks to me. I agree priced a bit high for fairly low option Merc. But on the plus side it does have a 400 4bbl V8, A/C, & the 3rd row seating.
Isn't this the same car that sold on ebay a few years ago for $7500? http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/threads/1974-mercury-colony-park.27968/ http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercury-Oth...0da068280&item=141096813184&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
My 90 Mercury has been a Pennsylvania car all its life and I bought it at 230k; no severe rust is on it, the previous owner always garaged it and kept it out of winter weather.
True, my 69 Mercury was a NEPA car from new until 2001 and there wasn't any rot on it, because it was always garaged and kept clean. Granted, it had 57K on it, but still.....there's still some surprises to be had as long as the owners before had the wherewithal to take care of their rides.....
