I don't think this has been posted on here yet. Looks like a very nice car. A bit of an issue in front of the left front wheel, but he shows it, and the car otherwise looks great. Lots of options, too. Bid to almost $8400 at this point with no reserve (or the reserve has been met). http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Oldsmo...30cbf323:g:SUgAAOSw5cNYeQou&item=262811677475
Nice car, $8400 with 9 days to go. front end issue would worry me, what's the cause? Believe there is more once you peel back the damage, cost to repair? For the money think you could better, must want the car.
I've been wondering that. It looks to me like a repaint that has failed. Perhaps that fender was damaged at some point in the past, and the repaint after the repair was not up to snuff. I certainly would ask the seller about it if I were interested. Regardless, he's doing pretty well on this auction, I would say. At almost $8400, if the auction ended right now, I think he would have gotten a good price. He would seem to agree as there is no reserve (or it has been met). The Old Cars Price Guide, for what it's worth, puts the value of a '63 Super 88 Fiesta in "car show" condition (which is not quite showroom condition), which this car is not because of the left front fender problems, at just under $10,000. He's not terribly far from that now for a car in lesser condition.
That's very nice, but it would be even better if he explained WHY the fender had to be repainted. Collision damage? Rust that got to the point that it had to be dealt with?
Well, from reading the ad it looks like they haven't had it very long. They purchased it from the daughter of the previous owner. It's always possible the seller doesn't know how the damage occurred. It appears that they are trying to be straightforward about condition, but might just not know the details of how it came to be the way it is now.
What are you, the seller's apologist? Couldn't the seller have asked the daughter about the damaged fender? I sure would have. Maybe she didn't know. Fine. But he ought to address the issue. It's a significant amount of damage on an otherwise fairly pristine car.
Of course I can. But I don't care that much. The questions are rhetorical. Can't we just talk about the car? Can't I complain about the ad in peace? I'm not asking anyone here to answer my questions. I'm just talking about what I think the ad is missing. We're just a bunch of people sitting around the table at McDonald's sipping coffee and talking about the cars for sale in the local paper want ads.
Excuse me? You obviously do care. I suppose if you don't want your questions answered, then you shouldn't ask them. Sure you can. But this is a public forum. if you want to complain in peace this probably isn't the place to do it.
