From my slight knowledge of the custom built four door Bronco's produced by the Centurion company through the 80s and into the 90s I would guess that the Mexican Ram Charger started life as a super cab half ton pickup, much like the Centurion rigs. The back of the cab was likely cut off, the frame shortened and the rear section, consisting of existing parts bin material (such as the rear hatch and possibly rear side windows) and custom parts (rear quarter panels) were added to complete the finished product.
I don't believe these Ramchargers are 'custom' at all. I believe the Dodge factory in Mexico actually built them on a normal assembly line for sale - in Mexico only, of course. Here's an article about it: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...-south-of-the-border-only-mini-test-road-test
Great read Krash things "may" be coming together to make this happen. They are admissible to Canada (15 years old) no problem registering and insuring it once landed. They can be driven through the states if you have paperwork showing its going to Canada. Google says 55 hr drive time from mexico city to home , at 25mpg less than $600 for fuel. one way flight is under $350! anyone have connections in Mexico that can help line one up in the spring? anyone on the "flight line" home got a spare bed!
I would look at the El Paso, TX Craigslist too. As Krash had pointed out, there are a few "living" on the El Paso side too - I am assuming from recent immigrants into the US from Mexico. If you're going the Mexican route, look at the closer border cities like Ciudad Juarez, etc. - heck of a lot closer than Mexico City! Here in ABQ I've seen them too, even though we're 200 miles north of the border, along with various other Mexican market vehicles like Ford Lobos and more recent Lincoln Mark LT's (which were produced for a longer duration than here in the US). I have even seen these Ramchargers in the El Paso U-pull-it yards too on more than one occasion, so if you're getting one from that part of the country, it would be advisable while you're there to check their inventories online and yank off some replacement parts on the cheap.......
You could also post a 'wanted' CL ad in the cities near the border....... Heck - you might even get lucky and find one that already 'lives' here...... or, be able to establish a connection with a border city dealer that can help you out. Or, you can get off your Dodge Ram jones and just buy a 2-door Blazer. LOL
2 -door blazer no where near the truck a ramcharger is i want something few have seen i like the "odd stuff"
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/5830740144.html $7,900 - in a suburb north of Los Angeles - More pics with the ad, but there's not much info in the ad text.
