Happy Anniversary... not sure if this occasion is a good thing or not. Having to quit work must have been difficult. Is your condition any better after three years of sleeping in?

Oh, man, I want that Holiday coupe! I had a '70, as I've said in other posts, Galleon Gold with gold vinyl roof and interior. Loved that car, got rid of it for wrong and stupid reasons.

Fannie, I do try to be active, but over last weekend, my tank got low and so I didn't venture out. But this week, I've been spending time with my brother Geoff and sister-in-law Mary, and tomorrow I get to see my Grand Nephew JohnMichael, so that'll be cool. I also helped one of my niece's, whose car ran out of oil. I loaned my jack and stands so her hubby could slide under and change the filter. Found the filter was not tight! So I spun the crank, and it felt OK. We put on a new filter and 4 qts. oil, fired it up, and even though the timing chain was slapping (Nissan KA24), it seemed to run/idle fairly smooth, so he drove it, and by the time he got back, the noise was almost gone. High mileage, looks like crap, but takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Ugh, Thanksgiving dishes. Isn't that what the family dogs are for?

    Fanny,
We traditionally have turkey and dressing for Thanksgiving. What do Nova Scotians have......fish and chowder?

I dropped one of our work trucks off the other day at a local shop to have some front end work done.
The shop that was performing the work has been around for a long time. They originally did blacksmithing, and they still have the forge in the back corner of the shop. They are old school, so much so that they don't even have a computer system for accounting. It's all done with paper/carbon copy invoices.
For some reason they always have cool stuff around. On this particular day this Mercury was sitting outside. It had come in for some suspension repair.

That is cool. When I worked my wrenching job in Lakewood, early '00s, we had a three-week stint where we had a '55 Star Chief, a '61 self-propelled silver twinkie motorhome, a '63 TR-3A, a '67 Mustang notchback, and my '74 Ranchero Squire, plus other assorted pre-1980 cars. We looked like a resto shop ourselves!

It's always neat to find a spot like this that works on classic stuff. And much like the place you worked Andrew, they aren't a restoration shop.
Another amazing shop is just down the street where the 57 chevy parked, in front of a garage door. That small, non descript building houses an amazing private collection.
You may have seen the article earlier this year in Hot Rod about the vintage rally's that are going on around the world. They featured three pre-war chevies owned by guys here in town.

    Here's the article:

    http://www.hotrod.com/articles/unbe...ewriting-the-rules-of-endurance-rally-racing/

This blue car is sitting right inside the door, out of sight.

I've never been inside, but every time I go by and the door is open I catch a glimpse of the collection. Tons of shinny paint and sparkling chrome.

There's a shop in town that the owner's husband ran. He died from cancer and she set up her nephew in the business. He works alone. The sales office is plastered with OReilly's course certificates. The wife used to take her Buick there before it got totaled. I stopped by and asked if he could mount some air shocks on my Pontiac, and his reply shocked me. He said he only works on cars made after 1994 because all the older ones are rusty and it takes too much extra time on them. Even after I told him my shocks had been recently changed and everything was almost new, he still refused to do the job.

Yup. Cuts off his nose to spite his face. If he and the owner were smart, they'd hire someone who does work on older cars, and begin bringing that business in. Cherry picking is going to eventually backfire on him.

So when the Fairlane's done, you need to drop by to introduce yourself, see if the guy's a decent sort.

I've got this pic as one of my 'wallpaper' shots on my computer.

I keep looking out on various websites / FB pages, etc for Silverfox's wagon (and Denny's, too), but haven't seen either pop up.

No silly fellow fish is in chowder and is reserved for cool, rainy days when folks from the south are visiting. :D
