Just got back from Calgary. Flew in Friday night at 11:00 pm and was pleasantly picked up at the airport by the owners. We went and had a quick meal and took care of the paperwork. They were so nice. They went above and beyond. After the visit, headed out and drove 4 hours to the border. Went through customs no problem. Drove across Montana, Wyoming just a bit and then South Dakota. Slept and finished the trip back to Illinois today in time to watch the Bears get crushed. The wagon performed flawlessly. About 1700 miles in the new Caprice Estate. What an amazing experience. Love the wagon. Special thank you to the Canadian owners. They are tops in my book !!!!

Drove all the way from Calgary to Illinois without any plates. That was suggested by the nice lady at the Border Patrol.

WHAT? No plates. One province, handful of states, a border. Not stopped. No tickets. That is unbelievable. You would would be hauled off the road in Ont or NY. I would never fathom driving without a plate around here.

I did something like that when I purchased my '75. Drove from Chicago to CNY with no plates. But I had my dad following *right* behind me the whole trip in my other car. No problems. Of course, most of the trip was in the dark lol.

Seriously, if you buy a car on Saturday from an individual, ( that's when I bought it ), then there is no chance to get plates until Monday, and actually that's Tuesday in Illinois. So that's why you have a bill of sale. Those were the exact words the border patrol told me too.
