I've had my wagon for years and the only time I ever drove it was the day it was delivered to see if it ran, drove and the brakes work. I have tons of hours into it and many left to go before it hits the road. Meanwhile, I've seen many projects arrive and be completed by others because they weren't as meticulous or working at the same level of detail that I am. They drive their cars while mine continues to sit and I struggle with the thought that I am over-restoring my wagon. If I hadn't sweat some of the minor issue and just pressed forward, my Merc might not look as nice for as long, but I would have it on the road and be enjoying it. To me, straight cuts and carriage bolts aren't a big deal. He certainly could have done more, but then again, it might be occupying the garage still, like my wagon if he had.
pvan that's sort of been my problem. I spent years working on my projects and weeks driving them. Actually some never did get finished and driven. Still I've enjoyed the old car hobby and would rather play in the garage than ride a cart around in the grass beating my balls or feeding fish valuable worms. I was afraid to hunt because the last time I did I was afraid I'd be mistaken for a deer. I never built a woodie for the same reason I never built a bookcase. Everything I cut ends up too short, even when I measure and cut again.
No! I usually measure several times with different tapes then splice two or three short pieces of wood together using stove bolts and Elmer's Glue.
Most of our band drove Dodge Products and we were known as Mo Power until we got a cease and Desist from our friendly Chrysler Lawyers, funny our logo did kinda look like this, only a with a Guitar in place of the Pentastar and a drum set in the red bar. Man did we have a good time playing really bad Music!!!!!!
That should've brought more notoriety! Hell, you should've told the lawyers that you'd then be going with your second choice, Vapid Transit....
I think we would have been OK exept we could not pass up a Chance to be the opening act for Cheep Trick in a small club in Pontiac MI, there was another much better local band up next, and then the King Bee's from the western part of MI then the head liners. It was just after Cheap Trick came back from Japan just before the Live from Budakan came out. We got a lot of PR close to Detroit and I think that is were the legal difficulties started. If we would have stayed agound central MI I don't think they would have ever noticed us. I like the Vapid Transit Idea LOL!!!!!! The Lawers really had an issue with the T-Shirts my then Girl Friend was selling, all her work paid for the Gas and food. They kicked me out shortly after that for someone that could actually play a Bass, and was willing to practice on Friday and Saturday if we didn't have a Gig. I would rather make money Drag Racing then Practicing on weekend's. They changed the Bands Name to the unimaginative name of "Speed Limit" and Played SE MI for a number of years after they kicked me out. They actually sounded a lot better without me playing, But still not great.
