Why is no one realizing that the issue is not the diesel car, but the EPA?!!??

We can't get the best diesel mileage cars here in the U.S. because the EPA looks at emissions per gallon, NOT emissions per mile.
The vehicle my wife wants cannot be bought in the U.S. Even though it gets 70+ MPG.
Did VW cheat? Yes, but that's only because the U.S. requirements are so stupid, but no matter what computer program VW used, diesel is still inherently cleaner than gas to start.
