Needs floors and trunk pan? Hey, no problemo. I'll just run right down to 'Hudson Floors R Us'........
It's that rare that if need be, I'd do floor work on it if I got it. I always thought these 55-57 "Hash" cars are pretty neat. When you seem them in pics, it doesn't do justice to how big they are , and, in most cases, how well they are appointed. And that it's a two door hardtop is only icing on the cake - with AC yet......
The car like something the Russians or Chinese would have built in the early 60's and called a "Future Car". It has to be the only car ever made that has tailfins on top of the front fenders too.
It's on E-Bay now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMC-Hornet-...0455d2d3:g:jD4AAOSwsTxXi42D&item=322195280595
1957 was the last hurrah for Hudson. I got curious about what body styles there were in Hudson's last year. Answer is, only two - a 4-door sedan and this 2-door hardtop, in two series, 'Super' and 'Custom'.
I owned a '56 Super Wasp 4-door with the 202 Super Jet six-cylinder flathead. Smooth ride, and quiet as can be! These '55-6-7 Hudsons and Nashes (the Hudsons are often referred to as "Hashes" due to the HUGE Nash styling overlap!) all have the fully-reclining front seat that makes into a rather comfy bed. Scoot the seat all the way forward, works great! The 1957 model year for Hudson was abbreviated somewhat, with the last car out the factory door in February 1957. From that point, both the Nash and Hudson nameplates were dead, to be replaced by Rambler & AMC. The Metropolitan brand, sold through Hudson and Nash dealers from May 1954 on, would now be a stand-alone brand, sold through AMC dealers. So, if you see a 1958 - 1962 Metropolitan, it is NOT a Nash OR a Hudson. It's just a "Metropolitan". The 1957 MY was the only year that Hudson used a 14" wheel. During the "Stepdown" era from 1948 - 1954, as well as the 1955 and 1956 cars, they used 15" wheels. And yet another CL seller that has his car in one town (Ft. Worth, TX) and advertises it in another CL city far, far away. Moron.
I remember when my uncle had a fastback styled 1948 Nash with the front seats that made a bed. I lkd the looks of that car.
Those last Hudson's were actually just Modified Studebaker Champion's I found this shot of a 57 Champion 2-door to compare it to. The roofline is the give away. Just like the roof line is the same in the later Lark series. A sad ending to a once great Detroit Icon. They were all made in South Bend Indiana, not the old Hudson Motors Plant in Detroit.
Incorrect!!! There was Zero cross-pollenization between Studebaker and Hudson/Nash!!! ALL of the '57 cars were built in Kenosha at the MAC plant. Fact.
