When is the last time you saw one of these? I don't think I've ever seen a diesel. http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/5455854590.html
You might have to do the "Yabba dabba doo!" thing with the big cutout in the floor board to get it rolling!

Five thousand dollars? I would not have given $5K brand new off the showroom floor! Not to mention, I'm willing to bet the belts are impossible to find and really expensive if you could.
Yank that crap out and pop in a Vulcan 3.0L and matching 5-speed. You'll need to swap in the EFI and fuel delivery system, but ditch the stinky!
"At car shows it would bring more visitors than the mustangs because of its rarity, and that's no joke!!!" The "visitors" were all the Mustang guys wondering why it was there.
ooh a lotta diesel hate here.... I like it. Just needs a turbocharger. Used to have a Topaz that was a pretty cool little car to beat around in. but I don't like it for 5 grand...
S#!t, I don't even like it for five dollars. And a turbo? Say goodbye to the cylinder head then. At least the Olda diesels just blew gaskets. This can break head bolts, they were so spindly. Not to mention getting my six foot, six inch body when it was thin is nearly neck-breaking.
I rented a gas Tempo in Las Vegas in 1984. What a hunk of sh!t that car was! It had just 5000 miles on it. I was driving down the Strip with a couple of buddies, when the right front strut broke, sending the whole wheel and brake assembly up into the wheel well! It was a very poorly-built car.
That was in the days Ford could build a halfway-decent RWD car, but was struggling with making their FWD design work. They managed to convince the GSA to buy their unsold stock and a few hundred tons of parts for a song. I remember working at Bangor Submarine Base here in Washington and my dad and a co-manager drive by in one when I was working. He complained to me that night how difficult it was for him to squeeze in and out of one, also.
