This car has been in the family since new. It only has 75,000 miles on it. ( we do drive this a few times a month so the miles will change.) Runs good and drives good. Paint is still shiny and upholstery is not faded or ripped. Dash has no cracks or discoloration. Headliner also in good condition and still in place. Hide away seats in rear also in good condition. Woodgrain on exterior is beginning to crack but has not faded. Lighter trim border has started to discolor. Also have owner's manual and some other factory paper work. Car is equipped with the following: 400 engine, C6 transmission, factory towing package (large radiator, auxiliary transmission cooler and stiffer springs on rear axle.) Air conditioning (not working), AM/FM stereo 8 track (still works), tilt wheel and cruise control. 4 new tires. $5,500
I have seen this car in person numerous occasions at a local cruise-in and spoke to the owner several times as well. They also looked at my car and we talked old wagons for awhile. He and his wife are really nice people. His parents purchased the car new in 1978. It is a beauty. If I could get a decent price for my Kingswood Estate, I would sell mine and I would buy this Squire. It isn't perfect, but a very nice car. Some of the trim is peeling... the interior is near mint. I think it has power windows, tilt, AM-FM and A/C, as well as the cargo seats.
Easiest solution to the trim peeling issue is to peel ALL of the trim. Did that on my '86 CS. Two pieces were peeled all the way, and you are not going to find NOS CS trim anywhere!
This is a Great Example of how the Spare-tire half-circle Does not get painted black from the factory.
HI everyone, This is my first post here after finding out about your group. I brought this car because of the above. The owner and wife are nice. I went down to get it Friday after speaking to him several times on the phone. We drove 13 hours drive to their home and after looking at it ( it was as nice as talked about), I was going to drive it back I noticed that the water pump was loose and was afraid of the trip home like that. The original owner was shocked to find his out. He did not seem like a car guy and honestly did not know about it. We decided to do a water pump in his yard because his mechanic did not call him back. Long story short after being up for 30 hours or so I made a mistake trying to get it off and put a small bent in the cover under the water pump. I got it back together and of course it leaked. I was tired, fussy cold etc so I left and found a hotel. Saturday I got up and decided to have it shipped home. We left the state of Tennessee t 11:00 or so and rolled into my house at 3:00. The adventure continues. Again thank you all for helping and I wanted to share this to let every one know you do all help others. By the way the original owner is a stand up guy and could not of been nicer and was truly upset about the way things worked out. He gave me back $500 for my troubles without me saying a word about it. Thank you all again Mike
Welcome Alfatar! Glad to hear you had a good experience buying this wagon from a fellow Tennessean. I'm betting you will really enjoy that Country Squire. John in Nashville
Good deal, Mike! Welcome to the forum. Post up some new pics when you get it home. Bummer about the water pump. That would have made for a great adventure.
Awesome news. I am glad it got a good home. I can say it is a very nice car, as I have seen it in person at least a couple of times and looked it over very closely. It has definitely been well cared for. I agree too that the owners are very nice folk. I am just glad someone got it that loves wagons and also glad that someone got it to keep me to have to worry about buying it. lol. I wanted it, but didn't need it as I have too much going on now with my current oldies. Enjoy it!
