Well as it says, I am trying to talk myself out of this, but I love the 70s Buicks. I really miss my '72 Electra 225 Custom sedan. This 1976 Buick Electra 225 sedan is available locally. It is said to have around 20,000 original miles, but the numbers look staggered on the odometer and the engine looks like it may have more miles, but I don't know, it may just look like that due to moisture, but it does not look like a 20k mile engine? The interior looks very nice and it looks to be very solid. The car definitely needs paint. It is advertised as a very nice running and driving car. It needs those terrible trim pieces on the back bumper that many of the GM cars had in the mid-late 70s that most have since rotted away. He said he would take $1700.00 for it. The car is about 2 1/2 hours away, he has offered to "trailer" it to where it would only be about an hour away, but with the way I work and really not having anyone to take me to it, makes it rough. If he would bring it all the way to me, it would be tough to turn down. lol. I really need to focus on my '72 and '73. Well if I talk myself out of it, hopefully someone will get it that will restore it and take care of it.
Thats a tough one, it does look like a low mileage car to me, that has been left out in the elements for 20 years. If it drives well and you like the body style that is a tough one to pass up. How much would Uber charge to take you that far? If it is available in your area. Just something to think about. I know I am not much help!!!!! LOL
I think that's a heck of a car for $1700. The interior looks great. You could have a lot of fun with it.
Maybe this will help. http://memphis.craigslist.org/cto/5323883831.html I think it is on the other side of your state? Not too bad at $3500. Good luck with your decision.
There's a car JUST like that one that's been sitting in a driveway for 2 years just down the street from my house. I've been tempted to stop by and inquire. I like these big cars personally, looking to acquire another full size 4 door Pontiac one day if I can get one before the derby and "need a motor for my GTO\Firebird" crowd doesn't get to it first...
Well, sure, the numbers are staggered, it looks like in the pic that the odo has just hit 20K. They're gonna do that on a lot of cars.
Well don't buy it. There are millions of super low mileage old station wagons closer. The price is too high and it's been left outside to fade and fall apart. Station wagons are a waste of time and money. No one in their right mind would buy it anyway.
Nice looking Buick. http://asheville.craigslist.org/cto/5384052713.html The rear bumper fillers are available, but the cost of the part is the least of it. Labor and paint are even more and a pain at that. The shop that did the front and rear fillers for my '85 Riviera said he'd never do another. (Photo not of my car, but mine is exactly the same color combo right down to the red pin stripe.)
Thanks for all of the replies. Yeah, I feel it is well worth $1700.00. I sold my '72 back in 2002 for $1800 and it was about in the same conditions - it needed paint, but it didn't have the rear bumper filler issues, as the '72's didn't have that. If this were a 1971-73 model, I would buy it in a flash, as I am more partial to the early 70s models. However, I am a "1976 model", so that one thing I like about this one and I am sure it rides and drives much like my old '72 did. I just need to put more $ into my wagon and '73 Grand Ville I suppose. Also he offered to bring the car on a trailer a little closer to where I live, but still not close enough. If I do not get it, hopefully someone that will save it will. Thanks again.
