    RANT!!!

OK, no pics as I did forget about it until my honey reminded me this AM and..... I had no camera:slap:

Did see some beautiful cars, some beautiful wagons also I've never seen before. One that sticks out and I knew who's it was from 50 feet was the "Black Widow" 57 Chev 4 door owned by a member I've met personally at my house who was a great guy to car BS with....... but can't remember his screen name...it's been a long time now:oops:. Black, blue ghost flames, AWESOME skulls air brushed paint work.... a drop dead stunning wagon, done tastefully!(y)(y)(y)

But back to the RANT..... IMO I'd be amazed if my area ever has a car show again! Last year eazy 400+ cars/trucks, beer garden, food vendors everywhere you looked, hourly 50/50 draws for charity, free quiz raffles for t-shirts etc, live band in one part, local radio station trailer in another with free stickers and balloons for the kids, a lot of good come on out and stay awhile stuff, even a beer garden..... and last year we did spend several hours there. For years we have enjoyed this...until today.

This year, we didn't even stay for 1.5 hours and this is a walking distance event from my house! This years show plain and simple SUCKED!! NONE of the above was there, One restaurant had a home size BBQ selling hot dogs, another was just selling canned pop, and away in a parking lot a mobile food truck was selling doughnuts ........NOTHING except for 2 port "o" potty's, one table with 2 girls sitting there waiting for people to hand in a vote for best ride..... witch BTW I didn't vote this year because of last year... small community where I live and word spreads fast re- "fixed vote'....allegedly speaking of course. ( if you were there last year you would understand) We walked there today, Deb who remembered had $100 cash as to expect spending $ on lunch, 50/50 draws.... have fun and help charities.... we came home with $100.

I didn't count but if we had 150 cars this year I'd be amazed and I felt sorry for some entrants who came up from Washington and Oregon state who even made comments about wasting there time.

I live here, I love where I live, but I'll rate my local car show of the year a 110% fail, first time ever in my life I was looking foreword to leaving before I had seen all the cars as it was that boring and the general opinion of everyone we met (car owners) and friends who attended was the same.

Rant Off...sorry, I was in a good mood until I went to fail show 2015:slap:

Unorganized, lame, in my back yard but I have to say don't bother anymore, it's dead

Well first thing I was gonna write was no pictures, no show. But it seriously sounded like it really wasn't much of a show. That's too bad because those who came will remember.
Makes ya wonder why there were no vendors or much of anything and why didn't the others show up? Especially if fuel costs are down like here and the weather was nice.
I can't speak out about local shows here or back in Illinois where I've been going to the large downtown show for several Julys. We haven't been out ourselves. But rumors are shows here are smaller and fewer too.
Is the hobby slowing down? Are car owners fed up with the late models winning all the trophys? Are the old guys with cars getting too old?
Are the business owners getting too lazy and cheap to pitch in and set up food tents and parts sales?
Are laws restricting downtown show car parking?

Wait, wait, wait... You live in Victoria BC? That's not too far from where I live. Man, I'm really out of the loop when it comes to car shows. I went to one this year: Rodz on Third in Marysville (Literally just down the road from my house). If you're ever down in Washington and wanna swing by to say hi, by all means feel free. Maybe drop a line first to make sure I'm home, but yeah. Love chatting about wagons and other such cars with other folks. But anyways... Bummer about the show, man. It's too bad there weren't more folks and whatnot. Hey, if there's another one next year, let me know in advance and I'll see if I can't coax Ol' Beastie across the border for some food, fun, and fellowship.
