Clam Wagons that were imported to Australia by a dealer or dealers had this conversion done back in the day, according to what I read.

Yep they did with some, but some Impala's around 1967 were delivered to Aussie dealers as right hand drive vehicles straight from Fisher Body as well. Many more were converted privately as 1-3 year old used cars once they were imported into Australia back in those days as well. You had to (and still do) convert them within 12 months by law otherwise they would end up as scrap. These days they have relaxed the laws on 30 plus year old cars so all the classic cars that end up here now (like my 76 Caprice wagon) do not have to suffer this indignation! However a new or new near new F-350, Silverado or Dodge Ram will cost about 130K plus to convert and comply in Australia at this point in time. I know of a fellow that is nearly 150k into his Raptor:yikes: Its sounds like and actually is a whole lot of money but if you want to play with one of these here in Australia, that is the price!

Well, that's informative. I had no idea. Thanks.
