I have to work this long weekend, I'm not complaining I'm thankful to have a job and one that I really enjoy. I got home this evening about 6:30 and my 85 yr old mom and my daughter have made an amazing turkey and ham dinner with two kinds of pie with whipped cream and ice cream for dessert...I'm stuffed! And very happy to have a great family to come home to. Hubby is also working this weekend, he'll be home about 3:30am. He's getting left overs for breakfast. Hope you all have a save and happy long weekend with folks you love to be with.
Cooked first turkey yesterday another going in oven soon getting ready for 5.00 supper with 12 adults and 6 grandkids!
Happy Thanksgiving, all! We had 10 at our house for dinner, PLUS our newest grandchild. Louise will be 3 weeks old on Wednesday!
Yes it is! Our Harley is four already, he'll be off to school next September. Our oldest son just got married so I'm hopeful there may be another grandbaby soon.
I always wondered, don't Canadians get tired of having to say it this way? We Americans just say "Happy Thanksgiving," and it's implied which Thanksgiving is being talked about. But Canadians always seem to feel they have to preface the word Thanksgiving with the word "Canadian" lest anyone think they're referring to the American one. The Canadian Thanksgiving holiday should not have to take a back seat to the American one. Canadians should just say Happy Thanksgiving and be proud of their holiday. The rest of us will realize that, when it's being said in October, it's not referring to the American version.
Shoot, if they wanted to differentiate the two greetings, all they'd say is, "Happy Thanksgiving, eh?" and they'd serve backbacon sandwiches and beers, eh?
And anyway, it's just great when family gets together and you get to see the next generation. So far, all we have in my immediate family is a soon-to-be-five-year-old spitfire, JohnMichael, whom I nicknamed JM.
Actually I wrestled with putting "Canadian" in the title. I decided to to catch the eye of the Canadian members. When we are wishing the greeting to another Canadian of course we just say "Happy Thanksgiving". It's funny that you say "back seat" to the American Thanks Giving", I've actually had some folks say "you celebrate Thanks Giving? Why?
