"Factory cable tie downs"? I worked for Chevrolet dealers back in the day. This item is a fix for the runaway throttle problem caused by a broken driver's side motor mount. The engine would torque up and pull the accelerator linkage with it. The best solution was to replace the broken mounts with the new interlocking style, but GM went the inexpensive route and had us at the dealer install a restraint cable that wrapped around the exhaust manifold, thus leashing the engine, and keeping it from rotating up and pulling the linkage to WOT. On another note, why do all these old cars have a "Corvette engine" in them? It may well be that somebody made that up because they didn't know what the restraints were for (?) That said, it is a nice looking wagon, pending more detailed pix.
That's neat dealer information. You probably saw a lot of interesting things working at a Chevy dealer back then. Yes it seems because a 327 also came in a 68 Corvette then it's the same for the entire Chevy line. Completely different 327's as you know. Same thing with the mid 90's Caprices with the LT1. Some people mention it's a Corvette LT1 which was not the same. The Corvette had aluminum heads. Good engines regardless. This owner does just say "Vette" though. A Friend of mine in the 80's used to refer to his car as the "Vette" also but he drove a Chevy Chevette! Nice wagon regardless.
