so...a lil background first...i'm semi retired.. about 2+ years ago a new Biz opened up...specializing in 'Antique Car Parts'....they bugged me to come to work for them for a year... I decide to call their bluff one day and said... ..."ok...i'll work Tuesday/wednesday/thursday, i aint starting till 10,...dont ever ask me to work a weekend,...and i want this much" ...thinking i would never hear from them again an hour later...my cell rings..."so?..when can ya start?"....dam and the point is...well ...all the customers we have , show up in their 'cool' cars ....and i had to go thru this...just so this wasnt a 'random pic' sorry for all the drivel.. the owner is a pretty famous guy in the "Hotrod" scene..and this is his new 'DAILY" ....pretty cool huh?
What a job! Mind you I haven't done an honest day since July, but still on the pay roll My boss assures me he'll have something interesting by the end of the year. Looks like someone knows how to negotiate though^^^
Like 10 wagons? How do you keep track, man!? I love the wood trim on that wagon. I have to refinish the chrome-finished aluminum around my windows (Doors, rear quarter windows and tailgate) and after seeing that, I'm really tempted to finish them like I did the original woodgrain moldings. They're all off anyway, and its just as much work - strip off scratched finish, spray on the almond (Krylon Satin and brush on the woodgrain with exterior stain (UV protection), then a couple of clear coats. I'll have to look at that! It takes 5 hours for the paint to dry on the car, so I could do it between coats. hmmm.
Hey Norm..(cheers reference).. have you ever thot about having the trim 'powder coated'? ...just a thot that plunked into my brain just now
I may do that once I collect a couple of pieces that were really dinged up in the wood trims. I did a good enough job as long as the car is moving over 10 MPH, but I've got to scout around.
see...all my trim on my 'older woodies'...is fiberglass! so..i've got aguy that will re-gell them all for me then..then..i'm getting them airbrushed...so they look like real wood!!...then re-cleared. ...it was just a thot you should get me a detailed list of which parts you need...lots of them around here!
Sixties wagons eh? Falcons? I'll get that list together soon. The passenger rear quarter (bottom and top trim pieces that frame the wood vinyl and the front fender front edge vertical got pressed in a bit, but I got it reshaped. The rear pieces are definitly not street-show quality, but they're tolerable. A couple of those hood adjusters (rubber-covered at the front rad bracket. I patched mine but they need replacing.
geez...i'm hijacking my own thread...now theres a change Norm...if ya got pics...that would be mint...a lot of times..just going off descriptions...leads to bad shipping investments
