'63 Ford Galaxie Fastback - Lanark, ON

Another Ford near me (this time, a true Galaxie ).

I much prefer the '64s over the '63s, but this one looks pretty good. Keeping in mind that this is the rust belt.

Also has factory A/C!

Funny, Jim - I MUCH prefer the '63's over the '64's. Always thought the '64's looked bloated and 'heavy' compared to the prior year.

No fender engine designation emblem, which indicates this one had the 'standard 500XL engine - the 352 (originally)

 

And I never did have a 63-64 preference. Even when I try to......

 

This is a fastback. At least that's what I thought it meant:

 

Actually, Ford called it a 'Sports hardtop'. It was a mid-year, '63 1/2 introduction.

My '64 Falcon Sprint had that roofline.

 

After perusing the brochures they actually called it a scatback.

Marshall, I think it's a bit like newly-hatched ducklings being imprinted by the first thing they see. In my case, by the '64 Fords.

And I much prefer the '60 - '64 Fords over the '65 - '68 Fords. It must have been quite a shock to the auto-buying public to see the hard angles of the '65s compared to the luscious curves of the earlier '60s cars. Kind of like a skinny Twiggy compared to Sophia Loren.

 

And like the cars, I'll take both!
