Hello. My name is John. I live in upstate NY and I just picked up a 66 Ford Country Sedan about a month ago. I was hunting around for some odds and ends for it when I came across this site (and a link to facebook page) and joined up. Maybe some of you can me out when I get stuck on something in the future.

So my car is a white Ford wagon. Came out of Virgina where it spent most of it's life. 352 auto with power steering. The people who owned it but 44,000 miles on it, sold in 91 to someone in NJ where this guy dropped in a 460/C6 and drop it till 2014 putting around 60,000 miles on it. The speedo cable broke along the lines so I don't know the actual miles on it. The OD stopped at 98,000 miles. The guy I got the wagon from bought it last year, drove for a year and decided to sell it. He's a Dodge guy and was looking for a Dodge now. It's my daily driver now, I did swap the carb on for a fresher 750 Holley and now I'm just fixing some little things on it now. The car is real solid for being 50 years old, runs real good and loves to suck in the gas. I tired a couple of times to lean it out only for it to tell me nope, that's not happening. I wanted to improve on the 10 miles per gallon I'm getting.....hehe.

Great introduction and nice clean wagon. 10MPG? Wow. I only got 9 on any new Fords I had and that was up hill, down hill, pulling RV, and parked!

    Welcome Quack,

Lovely ride you have there, I've got a Fairlane 500 version (as expertly disguised in my forum name!)

My's stock standard with a 289, I would love to see how it would go with something bigger. I bet you shock a few other drivers at the lights if you gave a footful of gas!!

    cheers

You must have had a generous and polite grandfather, Ma'am.
There was once this woman who walked into the bar with a duck under her arm. The bartender asks, "What are you doing here with that pig?". The woman answers, "That's not a pig. That's a duck!". He then counters, "I was taking to the duck, you idiot!"

    Welcome to the forum, John!

So, let me get this straight...... You BUY a full-sized '66 Ford Country Sedan, with a transplanted Ford 460 / C6, and the first thing you want to do is.......improve the gas mileage?

    Fugghettaboughtit........

Nice wagon, welcome aboard! I have a '63 with a 302 out of a 96 Explorer and a C4 in it. Runs good. Not sure about my mileage, I need to check it. Have you thought about a Fitech self-tuning fuel injection to improve the mileage? I am seriously considering one for mine, to replace the 600 vacuum secondary Holley I have now.
