i found a ranch wagon on a road trip this week and am considering purchasing. i am a ford truck freak and have a collection of them from 1972 down but now i want this wagon. the floors are bad . front and back. the tires are flat allowing the floors to rot being to close to the ground. the sheet metal is pretty good. are floors available aftermarket? the car has sat for 10 years in the same spot. the pasture has cactus growing in it so the area is arid. it is 300 miles from home, the car carries a title with sale and is $1200. that seems reasonable but only if the parts are available for the partial restoration restomod or ratrodding of this car. the car has parts of the engine in the back. FE engine EDC heads etc. the car has a column shift standard transmission. the hood will not open as the cable is rusted. i am looking for opinions from some of you station wagon experts. i am a certified ford truck freak and consider myself to be very knowledgable in the restoration of them. thank you for your opinions. jim oberg eudora ks
Floors are available. I ordered mine through Thunderbird Headquarters in Concord California. They specialize in Thunderbids - but carry parts for many classic Fords. Also - since yours will be an FE - most anything that works on a Thunderbird will also work on a wagon. They're a little more expensive - but when you call them - you're talking to somebody that really knows their stuff - not just a call center agent. You might also try Mac's for floors.
Welcome. Good luck with your 58 Ranch Wagon. A good choice. Any fool can buy a ready to roll driver. It takes a special fool to build his own!
