OK, try this - 32' fifth wheel travel trailer, one lawn tractor, three farm tractors, two BMW convertibles, '66 Dodge, '53 Hudson, '59 Metropolitan, and my '96 Dodge dually. Oh, yeah, I didn't mention before two large 10'x4'x8' steel racks for parts, two workbenches, and a 5'x8' full bathroom. And though it was full, I always ensured I have room to operate in. A garage or shop packed to the gills is useless, and is called a storage unit at that point, not a garage or shop.
I always wanted to park our RV's inside. When I first bought a 5th wheel RV we met a couple with a larger 5th wheel and followed them home after leaving camp. He drove right in his large barn, put down the front legs and that was it. Ready to leave again next week without unhooking the truck. I never have enough room.
My garage is on my To Do list!! We live in an old neighbourhood with a few malcontent Firebugs, so I'm building mine of all Steel panels for 2 cars or one car and the trailer. The west side will have a sliding door into what's left of our backyard, so I can push the trailer out and work/play on the next Fox-body wagon... And on top, we'll have a small solar air heated greenhouse for tomatoes, spices, and peppers.
Sad about local firebugs. As for metal buildings being fireproof, my buddy had a fire that started inside his metal building. It melted half the roof and one complete wall. Barely saved his 1955 T-Bird and 1949 Oldsmobile.
No matter what, I have to insulate it, so I'll use ROXUL batts - Fire rated to 45 minutes, Roof and walls. The Pink stuff just melts and smolders. ROXUL is made from stone slag. Did the whole hose with it. Cooler in summer, warmer in winter (more heat-efficient).
StorminNorman------>My garage is on my To Do list!! Just how far down your long list is it? There's also the honey do list. The grocery list. and the list.
Next summer. The Honey Do list is a daily deed... The Renos finish this summer, and the groceries are weekly. And the list, well, we don't have TV, so I don't cuss at the political snake oil very often anymore.
Here is just a few pics of what has Occupying my time before the hot Rod power tour. I soar a cabinet similar to this on the garage journal.com and thought I would modify it for myself
there is still more to do on it . right now it was just get everything somewhat organized so i can leave.
Show off! I was once proud of my garage till my son started working in it. Check the latest old Katrina or Florida hurricanes for an idea. :banghead3: I like the door storage area.
