    I don't think I'd pay $500.

the question is what is this thing, is it a Mercury Zephyr or a Ford Fairmont?

Is it originally from Mehico? Sometimes they jumble the names of the cars around down there.

Being that the wagon is in Texas, that was my first thought.

This is a strange beast. Judging from the driver's door, it looks like a retired government car. There is a US dealer id tag on the tailgate "Courtesy", but the tailgate might have been replaced as the interior shot shows it doesn't match the rest of the interior. Unfortunately the only one who should be interested in this is the junkman.

It would probably be a decent project once stripped. I'd offer a couple hundred.
Gut it and build a track monster.

The lower dealer callout looks like "Charles West Sales", which is in Oklahoma City. This could be a killer build - remember, what fits on Fox-body Mustangs, works with these. Leave it grungy on the exterior, put a basic interior in it, and build the baddest 5.0L around for this!

As for the "Ford Zephyr", remember when this was built. I remember working in a Chrysler-Plymouth-FIAT dealer in 1978-79. We'd get Volares with Aspen emblems on one side, and Volare on the other. Seemed like that happened at least once a week! These and the Mercs came off their same line, so I can see the mis-application of emblems here, too.
