I'm converting my rear drum brakes to disc brakes using the SSBC kit, but before I begin a question has come up can I use the master cylinder in the car now, or do I need to change that too? Have front discs rear drum and do I need a proportioning valve? If I need to use a proportioning valve should I use a GM or aftermarket valve.

The best thing to do would be to call SSBC's tech line, and ask them if your factory M/C is usable for that kit or not, and as for the proportion valve, it depends if you're staying otherwise stock, or if you plan to race or tow, etc. You can then tell them that and see what they say. Whichever way you go, you'll want your braking bias between 55/45 and 60/40 front to rear.

There won't be any racing or towing with the car just crusin the local car nights.

The little I know about this is you will need a Corvette disc/disc master. They are actually cheap at auto parts stores and not from catalog speed shops.
Also I believe the proportioning valve is built in the master.

    disc brakes

While I'm waiting for SSBC to get back to me and I'll post their information, if I use a Corvette master cylinder what years would bolt right in?

Not sure what year Corvette started 4-wheel discs. But it's a built in residual valve not proportioning valve.
