I almost love this one. But there are 34,502 reasons not to. Those exhaust tips gotta go!

The Dodge Lancer wheel covers have to go, replace them with a nice set of deluxe '59 Ford sunburst covers with the fancy treatment in the centers. I can survive the exhaust tips.

Why is the front bumper mounted so high?
Some glaring errors on a car so beautiful I don't understand.

    What makes you say this?

Compared to other '59s, looks OK to me.

I'd grant that the ebay car's bumper is maybe 1/4" too high compared to the image in the '59 Ford brochure, and perhaps it's slightly higher on the passenger side than the driver's side, but overall it's barely noticeable.

I guess if you can't see it then never mind.
    Probably an artist thing.

We don't need an artist's rendition in a brochure. Here's another '59 Ford. Again, I don't see much different between this car and the ebay car.

I see two rows of those little thingies above the below the trim strip below the headlights that go all the way across, a third row of thingies stretching between the top edges of the little dip in the center of the bumper, and a fourth row of thingies barely visible above the top of the lowered part of the the bumper behind the license plate in the ebay photo and more visible in the upper photo because there's no license plate there.

If anything, I do see that the chrome piece that completely surrounds those thingies in the upper photo and in the brochure image appears to be cut off along the bottom in the ebay photo, so, yes, I would agree that the ebay car's bumper, as I noted earlier about the passenger side, does look slightly high. Maybe 1/4". But I'd hardly call it "so high" or a "glaring error." Makes it sound like the bumper is 6-inches too high or something like that. You certainly had me scratching my head with that description.

I wonder if the slightly raised bumper might have something to do with what appears to be an anti-sway bar visible just below it.

    Don't look at the grill.
Look at the bumper extensions mounted to the forward edge of the fenders.
    One inch off at LEAST!

    Easy fix too.

True. If you look at the two sides of the car, which he conveniently provides for us, you see that the passenger side is high, while the driver's side is really not. Is the bumper extension too low or is the bumper too high?

Them exhaust tips was the option for '57 not sure for '59. They are called Delta Wing same as on my '57.

I have a '58 and when I mounted a rear bumper I tightened up the four bolts on the frame extensions finger tight. The hit the bumper with a rubber hammer till it was lined up. Then torqued them down tight.
The bumpers on those cars were not so much for protection as they were for shine.

My bumpers could use some tweaking too. I think the brackets are bent causing the corners to be higher than should be. and then the plater's don't have a pattern to go by just eye ball it and think it's straight till you mount it on the car. One side is tight almost against the body and the other side you can drive a Mack truck through.

There are a couple of adjustments on the bumpers of early Fords. Most are bolts with washers mounted in slotted holes. This means you crawl under and see which to loosen. then use a rubber hammer to make adjustments before tightening the bolts back up.

I agree with jairus on the bumper being too high. It's so far up the grille surround does not show and the sway bar does.
