Nicely optioned, yes, but it needs a lot.

While not outrageous, his buy-it-now of $2400 is a bit strong, in my opinion, as this is a $1500 to $2000 car at most as it sits. With the faded paint, dents, rust here and there, messy interior, and the other bad things he admits to, it doesn't set the heart throbbing.

Neat car and I love the color combinations. As stated it is a little rough though and sadly, lacks the 3rd seat option.

I would love to find me a nice 72-76 Gran Torino Squire.

All in all, likely not that huge a job to get this old girl back into fighting trim, and with the equipment she has, she is not a common car at all. I only hope someone brings her back to life instead of putting her to death in the derby. This is one of those times I wish I had a shop!

Oh wow. Looking at the bid history, it looks like his reserve was $1000. That's a great deal IMO. Hopefully, the winning bidder wasn't a derby person.

I really thot about buying it and cutting the rear floor pan for my 72 Gran Torino Squire and parting out the rest. Looks like wagon even has rim blow steering wheel in it. Too far from DFW to Jacksonville and I didn't have time right now to deal with it. If anybody hears of a good floor pan for under the rear seat closer to DFW please give me a hollar back.

I'm thinking a 4 door might also work for you. This will greatly increase your chances. Also, there are other 72-79 intermediate Fords and Mercurys that should share the same frame and floor plans. 72-76 Torino, 72-76 Montego, 74-79 Cougar, and 77-79 LTD II. Check out grantorinosport.org. There are a lot of guys on there that might have what you need.

    1972 Gran Torino Squire Wagon

The floor pan that I be needing is under the rear 3rd seat in the back of the wagon. The 4 door just is not the same. In the wagon the rear floor pan is dropped where the gas tank normally resides with the gas tank having been moved to a lateral position behind the left rear quarter panel. The 72-73 Torino wagons that once were as proliferate as bunnies are now almost as extinct as mastodons. Fortunately I have three of them ... a Nevada car to restore and two Alabama cars to donate ... plus alot of stuff acquired over the years. However, I'm thinking that the repair/replacement of the rear floor pan may have to be custom fabricated. Presently I am sanding in order to remove the squire paper. I am also contemplating whether to replace the optional 302 w/ C4 with a 302 w/ AOD from a low mileage 1983 Lincoln Continental. My two donor cars are 351C w/ FMX. The original 302 and C4 appear to be in decent rebuildable condition, but the front hardware on the engine (AC compressor w brackets and power steering pump with brackets) was cannibalized before I got the car. What to do, what to do?

You should be able to find a rear floor pan for that Torino. A lot of Ford products should have a piece that fits.....

    '72 - '76 Torino/Gran Torino wagon
    '77 - '78 Ford LTD II wagon
    '72 - '76 Mercury Montego wagon
    '77 - '78 Mercury Cougar wagon

Ah. I thought you meant the rear seat floor plans (I guess the middle seats in your case). 72-76 Torino wagons should be the same, as well as 72-76 Montego wagons (much harder to find), and 77 LTD II and 77 Cougar wagons too. I know where there's a '72 Torino Squire near me. I removed all of the fiberglass woodgrain trim, along with the interior rear cargo panels last year. I don't recall the condition of that rear cargo/rear seat floor plan though. Here ya go. Found a few pics that I took of it.
