Hi, I have been looking for some interior parts for the rear area of my wagon, the side plastic parts in the back are in bad shape and I am trying to make the car like new, I have searched a lot and can't seem to find any resources for these kinds of parts, if anyone has any leads it would be much appreciated. I have tried the resources on this page for web links but I cant seem to find anyone that carries this year.

    thanks

If it helps your search, the same parts were used from 73 through 78, and on both the Ford Custom 500 Ranch Wagon/Country Sedan as well as the Country Squire. The Mercury Monterey Commuter and Marquis and Colony Park wagons used the same pieces for those same years. That does, at the least, open up the search criteria.

Before I found some replacements for my Mercury, I had considered using a thin coating of fiber glass resin on my old panels, sanding it down and repainting the correct color.

I don't know how it would work out, as I never tried it, but that was the plan.

The plastic side parts in the rear cargo area are very hard to find. I think, unfortunately, your best bet is searching salvage yards for good used ones, because I have never seen these parts for sale even on Ebay.

As suggested above, if the tops are dry rotted due to sun damage, then they can be repaired, but it's very hard to get the "texture" just right again.

    Good luck none the less!

Try this to dig some up:

    http://car-part.com/index.htm

Also, in my 1979 Ford Shop manual, there's a nicely detailed Step-By-Step on repairing plastic interior parts. I'm sure you'd find that in the 1977 factory manual also. Book 4 - Body.

If yours are suffering from Dryrot as gdp said, you can repair that. Use cheesecloth to dab the surface of whatever plastic goo that's compatible, to get the graining in, and then SEMS or other vinyl plastic paint and primer to restore the color.

Try Steve Castleman in Cleveland Ohio area

Give Steve a shout - I got a complete set of armrests. My originals were brittle and all cracked. He has a good selection of interior parts. You may to get some dye made up

A local paint shop near me custom made dye to match for both plastic and vinyl
