Not new, but never introduced myself!

    Hey Gang,

I mostly stick to the classified section and post craiglist links there, but I thought I'd say hello here, too.

I'm in Vermont, and run a 85 4x4 Tercel wagon, along with a Matrix. I've got a 59 Chevy pickup that hasn't been on the road in years, but I'm going to try to get it going in the Spring, drive it a bit then sell it to fund an old wagon (I particularly love the late 40s-early 50s, and early 60s). I might fall back in love with the truck once get to drive it again, but I play upright bass and kind of want an old wagon I can use to haul my bass and gear to gigs! The truck isn't practical for that.

Here's the only pic I can find of the Tercel:

Welcome to the site and thanks for the intro. Better later than never, you know.

It takes a very unique person to own one of those Tercel wagons. There was one in the "for sale" section a few weeks ago and it garnered a whole bunch of interesting comments. All jokingly, of course.

Welcome aboard, and you know, I'm all about that bass- no treble.

    Chris

I've owned several old Tercel wagons over the years, all 4WD. Painfully slow, but for bombing around the city it's perfect, especially in the Vermont winter! People love or hate them it seems (and there's the inevitable comparisons of the hatch to an ATM), but this one has a pretty clean body still, and only 60k on the clock! I fall firmly on the "love them" side.

Your 4WD Tercel looks to be in great shape.

These were quite popular down in southern California when they were new, for zooming up into the mountains for skiing. Lots of cargo room inside...

Your '59 P/U is just begging for a restoration. What do you plan on doing to it?

My plan is to just get it running better and get it on the road with an inspection sticker in the Spring, then probably sell it. It's pretty solid, with just a bit of rust here and there. Nothing serious. I rebuilt the engine years ago, and have put less than 100 miles on it since then, new brake lines, cylinders and master, clutch, windshield and door windows. I probably won't restore it or have any metal work done to it, unless I decide to keep it. Then I'd probably have the rust addressed and maybe paint it.
