Hello, I'm new to this forum but I am looking to find a Ford LTD that looks as similar as this wagon used in John Carpenter's film Halloween from 1978 (According to film trivia this model is from 1976). It's for a short film shoot to occur on Sunday, November 2nd from 5-9pm in Los Angeles. I would be interested in renting the vehicle to be used for a small cameo by John Carpenter himself! He will be sitting inside it/lightly driving it down the block. There is money set aside for a rental, please let me know if you have any leads or suggestions (I would be very grateful). Thanks! -Jacqueline
Do you have any more specific requirements, like the color of the interior / exterior? And based on your photo, I would assume you would prefer one without wood, like this one has: I'll look through the member database and see if anybody in the L.A. area has something similar. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: I searched the member database, and I didn't find any members in Southern California with a mid 70's, non-wood big Ford wagon. I did find members with the following: - '75 Ford Gran Torino, non-wood, white exterior (The Gran Torino, is one size smaller than the big Ford. This is it: - '70 Chevrolet Kingswood wagon (non-wood), color unknown - '64 Ford Fairlane Ranch Wagon (smaller than the big Ford wagon. Even smaller than the '75 Gran Torino) - A few Ford Country Squires, '67 - early 70's vintage. These all have wood on them. Let me know what you think. Marshall
There is a place in Northridge (LA suburb) called Picture Car Warehouse that rents cars for film/tv work. They have a light tan '76 Ford LTD (item 1653). I have no idea what the daily rate is but it might be worth a try. Here is a link to their station wagon page. http://picturecarwarehouse.net/cars/Station-Wagons/
Item ID: 1653 <LI class=no-show>Year: 1976 <LI class=no-show>Make: Ford <LI class=no-show>Model: LTD Wagon <LI class=no-show>Color: Tan <LI class=no-show>$350.00 Per Day You would really have to want that wagon, for the day, for that price! <LI class=no-show>
You are to generous for you're own good KK.... I'll rent any of mine, $200 a day local for a movie/TV shoot but I'm the only one behind the wheel but then again the ca$h damage deposit I would demand ..... well lets just say nobody will ever want any of mine in a show even if my Buick as example witch the clear coat is toast is still in better condition than that tan Ford.
I didn't think it would be cheap but also didn't think it would be quite that high. But I guess if you need a certain car for a short period of time, $350 a day is better than trying to find and buy one on your own. Judging from the amount of vehicles this company has, it must be pretty successful though.
Thank you all for the quick responses - I just realized my email settings were set up wrong so I didn't realize there were so many responses! Marshall - thanks for searching the database. I'm interested in a couple of the vehicles: '75 Ford Gran Torino (in white) '70 Chevrolet Kingswood wagon (non-wood), color unknown A few Ford Country Squires, '67 - early 70's vintage. These all have wood on them I'm not necessarily opposed to wood. Are there photos of any of the above vehicles (besides the photo of the Gran Torino that you posted)? Also - I should mention that beyond payment I also have an auto insurance for the production, so any rentals would be completely covered! Thanks! -Jacqueline
OK, got a response from the owner of the Gran Torino - he sold it, went to Amsterdam of all places. Scrambling to find something for you... This for sale in the Orange County Craig's List: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/4701616276.html '73 Chevy Malibu wagon. Maybe you can rent it?
if it does not have to be a 1976 Ford Wagon, consider mine 1976 Chevy Caprice Estate, am in San Diego
That Craigslist posting isn't bad - I like the red color. I will try contacting them. Thanks Marshall! I may be interested in the 1976 Chevy Caprice Estate rrbnut - while not opposed to wood panelling I'd still like to see if I can snag one without wood first. I may be interested in yours though if nothing else comes together. I'll keep you posted and will PM if I'd like to make it happen. Hopefully I should know on all this soon!
67 Country Squire Hi Jacqueline, I received a message from a member here earlier indicating you are interested in renting a vehicle similar to my own. I have a 67 Country Squire that does not currently have the wood moldings on the car. The car is factory lime green. Several pictures can be found in my "garage" here at this site. The vehicle is currently non-op'd so it would have to be transported from my location in California City. It runs well and is mechanically sound. I tried sending you a PM but your mailbox is full. Please let me know if you may be interested or would like more information. Thank you, Mike
