Not all that far. I am trying to get my wagon down here asap but the prices are out of hand with the auto transports due to the snowbirds (not complaining or picking on Ya'll). At this time it is stored at a friends shop for the winter (in CT). If there is a wagon meet please let me know as i will drive down wagonless :-( if it is b4 we get mine here. Peace Out
You northerners keep bringing your junk cars to Florida and that's causing it to sink into the ocean!
Yup, that is "up" as you put it (LOL). We all have to be from somewhere and Up North is simply beautiful. We came down for bikeweek and purchased a house! (talk about an impulse purchase!!). It is nice down here most of the year, the summers at tough on this Yankee (would like to grow up and become a snowbird ). One thing i truly love about florida is that none of my cars have ever had rust on them!!!!!!! Peace Out, Chuck
Seems to me, there's Yankees and Damn Yankees. Yankees grow to appreciate southern living and culture. They can never be Crackers, but they know the true meaning of the term, and try to assimilate and prosper without pissin' people off at everey turn. They are called Yankees to differentiate them from Damn Yankees. Damn Yankees never quite get the hang and pace of southern life, for the most part, they are demanding, demeaning and pushy in the extreme. (I often see sign posted in small businesses " we, here, are southern by birth or choice. And so it follow's, that we really don't give a good God Damn how you do it up North" Or "see them palm trees? This ain't Michigan.") Also oft heard " Well, MY (insert the inflammatory/derogatory term of your choice) up home say's you guy's oughta do it ... Crackers, on the other hand, are usually, at least 3 generations on the land and have earned the respect due them, by good stewardship. Now, Rednecks, are from many places across this country, geography don't have much to do with it. It's an attitude and a lifestyle. We can get along like 2 pigs in a wallow or fight at every turn, your choice. Country folks instinctively know things that city dwellers simply can't fathom. Don't push me and I won't push back. Just thought ya'll ought to know, I'm a rookie, I've only been in this here town 24 years... Paul
I like what Paul wrote. I don't believe he stirred anything up. Them thar's the facts man. Many people around here still say "thank ya ma'am, yes sir," and respect one another. It really is easy to tell the difference in the true Crackers, Rednecks, Snowbirds, etc. We've only been here in the boonies 20 years and love both where we are and the people we live around. In fact the reason we settled in what's known as the Gold Coast is the people. We were headed to an area around Frost Proof, Haines City, or that location. It's true that a large percentage of the old cars and trucks were brought down here by retirees like me. When we moved to this area many had no idea what a cruise-in, car show, or drive in was but they learned and enjoy it.
Okay so I will stir the pot a little . I just traveled 600 miles north to get to the Deep South , am I confused Yankee or what? My wife who is a native fla cracker says fla is not really the south . So am I a confused Yankee or is she a twisted cracker?
To answer, YES you are a confused Yankee and your wife is a twisted Cracker. But I've also noticed that the real southerners are above the Florida state line and into the hills of Tennessee and Kentucky. So if Florida is not down south where am I ? And isn't a twisted cracker a pretzel ? By the way are we still on topic? Welcome z1kid
Hey ModelT1, glad to see that there are people on this forum with a good sense of humor. If you cant joke/laugh it simply isn't worth it!! Peace Out, Chuck
Topic? what's a topic? (what, at this point, does it matter?) About the only classification I work very hard to avoid is "aZZhole" I'm pretty much good with whatever people, that know me well enough to hate me, call me. (That's likely a northern redneck thang for yun's) Paul
