Hi Being a 60's kid growing up we always had Station Wagons, Pontiacs were always in the driveway since my uncle owned a Pontiac Buick dealership in CT. My folks had a 62 Pontiac Bonneville Safari and I would like to find one. I would prefer a Bonneville but as things go their are not many to chose from so a Catalina would also be a good start . If anyone knows of one for sale please contact me directly newmcguy@gmail.com Thanks Jay Hanratty Massachusetts
aboard Nascar24. Did you make the race in Loudon last week end? Jeff had a pretty good run going until the brake issue. Hope you enjoy the forums.
Didn't make the race, but was in NH for another function, best part was I was able to enjoy a ride up the coast on the Harley
We made the trek from NS to see the race and enjoy NH. The weather was pretty good for a bike ride, until the rain moved in Saturday evening into Sunday. Hope you didn't get caught in it.
Welcome to the SWF....... Catalina, South Carolina: http://www.cars-on-line.com/62829.html Sure you need a '62? How about a '67 - Listed right here on the SWF, located in Colorado: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32833 ALSO........ SWF member 'rob-red' who lives in the pacific Northwest, owns a very nice '62 bonneville Safari, and he was trying to sell it earlier this year. I do not know if he still has it. I would suggest sending him a PM IMMEDIATELY.
Thanks Thanks for the leads The 67 is a nice car but it doesn't fill the sentimental need that I am in search of. The blue 62 is a very nice car, another memeber also has a nice blue 62 for sale and a potential unrestored candidate without a title. Here in Mass, no title pretty much renders it parts or scrap iron ;( It is sad but My state is not very flexiable in these matters. My Father bought a Safari wagon in 63, it was a 62 Red "Big" B as it was affectionalely know by my Mother, so I'm trying to find another one to recreate a similiar wagon. My Dad passed 15 years ago and mom is approacing her 85 Birthday and I know she would love to see another one of these Big B's pull back in her driveway Her two favorite cars were a 65 Ford Mustang Convertable by oldest brother had, it was Twighlight Turquoise. That car was totaled in 1968, took 22 years to find another car like it. My father bought a 66 California Convertable in Red in 1988, being the purest he was he would never change the color. The car still sits in her garage and she refer's to it as " Your fathers car", kinda sad, so my best hope is to find a 62 Safari , take it and make it into a visual duplicate to what she had. The car I would like to recreate will be more than likely start off not in the correct color exterior and interior and I want to modernize the drive train to be as modern as I can without destroying the original appearence of it. So for me to buy a completely gorgeous Safari and tear it apart , change the colors and reconfigure a perfect drivetrain and suspension, only takes one more of these rare wagons out of existance. I would love to find as solid of a wagon as possible, preferably with a complete but spent drivetrain, Catalina or Bonneville, doesn't matter to me its more about completeness and solid to start with. I have been in the Automotive field all my life, ran the family Auto Body shop for 17 years, teaching the trade for 16 years, and doing restoration side of the business for more than 30 years. So the extent of this type of project is not one that I am un-familiar with just at a point if I don't get one soon, I may never realize having a completed one before I get to old to enjoy it, lol
