Hello, I am new to the forum, but plan to be here a lot since I've bought a '90 Buick Estate with 121k miles for $700. It is in pretty good shape, but my stock radio was dead on all but the rear right channel. I am now planning out a new stereo with completely new head unit, speakers, sub/amp.
The biggest task will be putting in the new speakers. The in-dash 4" and back 4x10s are garbage. So, I am trying to figure out where to put new ones. Anyone put 6x9s or any speaker in the front door panels? I am up for any advice on this, as I am a true novice.

    Thanks in advance

I'm sure there's space for them if that's what you want to do. A lot of us prefer to keep our wagons looking 'original' .

I've got an older box wagon, so it still has the old 2-shaft radio type. Eventually, I'll replace it with a single-DIN unit, but try to keep it looking somewhat original. I'm not going to do door speakers, just replace what's there.

I understand trying to keep the original look. I agree. And thanks for the tip on the Crutchfield clearance section.

I'll post pictures when I get into the installation. I am thinking of building a small box for 4 1/2" speakers that could fit in the back side "pockets" where my pillow goes.

My '87 Lesabre sedan had only 37k when the original radio went dead. I placed a few junkyard units that kept dying. I finally got lucky with a junkyard unit that was rebuilt by GM. No problems now. Good luck. I wish mine had aux other than that it is easy to operate. There are some ebay sellers that rebuild these units sometimes with aux.
