Hey y'all. My name is Koa. I grew up on the thin line between suburbs and cattle country that almost no one thinks of when they visualize California. It was the 70s and 80s and muscle cars ruled the minds, hearts and roads of my home town. Now, if anyone would have told me 30 years ago that I would be in love with a 6 cylinder station wagon, I bet I would have been offended. Somehow, somewhere along the line I did indeed fall in love with the long roof. OK I guess I always held my "poison pinto wagon" matchbox car pretty near and dear and Woodies always seemed like an exception. I have a '66 Dart Wagon with a Slant six and I wouldn't trade it almost anything. A couple years back I got a '98 Volvo V70xc and my girlfriend at the time kept asking me when I was going to sell the Dart. She simply could not understand that I needed a car to get around in while I was wrenching on the old Dodge. Well, she's not hanging around anymore but both my station wagons are. I think I got the better end of that deal.
aboard Koa! Enjoy the forum. I heard rumors there are lots of pretty girls in California but not a lot of nice station wagons. You did make a smart move and I'm sure the wagon is a lot less trouble. When we retired to Florida we had no idea the big city east of us used to be Hogtown and just below where the Mouse now lives was longhorn cattle country and the natives where called Crackers.
I just recently saw a program on TV about Florida being the largest cattle producing state in the country...who would've known? And the term "Cracker" originated from the cattle handlers cracking the whip...and so the term "cracker" was born. I don't know where the term "Hogtown" came from, but I will do a search on it. Ya learn something new everyday.
hello koa seems like we are about the same age and similar stories except i grew up in a part of new york city where my girlfriend came over riding a horse . i liked muscle cars also and my friends and i still laugh about my dad saying get rid of that damn hot rod and ill give you this nice dodge monaco wagon to which i replied dad i'm 18 i don't want a station wagon but life has come full circle with me owning a few wagons including my first ever dodge product . good luck and enjoy this place ps - i also had a pinto wagon which i thought was cool but its nickname was the little brown turd as it was that shade of brown
I don't know where the term "Hogtown" came from, but I will do a search on it. Ya learn something new everyday. Longroof you do know where Hogtown creek is I'm sure. From what I remember Gainesville was called Hogtown long before the Gaines' moved in. I really do learn something new everyday. But forget several other things I should remember. As for 59wagonman holly crap. They haven't ridden horses in NY City since the 1800's. No wonder your wife needed a new hip. Howdy y'all! Howdy back Koa sometimes we get just a bit off topic.
didnt say wife this was when i was a yankee and lived in staten island, though it was and is part of nyc back then it was way different then what you think of being nyc
