I'm not sure why but I loved that event. Made some new temporary friends each year. Yes, I remember alcohol right in the parking lots. Maybe that's how I made friends! We had a plain 1987 Chevy van and custom vans were very popular then. I know the movie but forgot the name. Two Lane Blacktop I think. The one with the old Ford coupe and yellow 55 Chevy. How could I forget? Also went to drive in several times south of Kenosha when they played old car movies.. Lots of old cars all over on weekends from Chicago to Kenosha. We often drove the 55 Chevy sedan or 55 wagon and tent camped at Zion. Lived in Pekin.
Now that the event is back on, I am definitely looking forward to next summer! Especially now that I have a car to cruise in it! The drive in in Kenosha is still there....not sure for how much longer though! I've been threre many times! It's one of the last ones in the area!
