http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/4647296904.html 1965 Oldsmobile F85 Vista Cruiser Station Wagon - $4500 (I-17 and Greenway Rd) This is a pretty cool find....its a 1965 Oldsmobile F85 Vista Cruiser station wagon...has a 330 V8, 2 barrel carb, automatic trans, power steering and power drum brakes. Also optioned with A/C, has power rear tailgate window, remote side mirror, clock, passengers side rear view mirror and a roof rack. Wagon looks like it has been sitting around for a few years..but starts right up and moves under its own power. The Odometer reads 84,506 miles. Engine is running off an auxiliary gas tank. Engine is quiet and I've already cruised to the store a few times and a car show with it. When I got the car I adjusted and bled the brakes, repacked the wheel bearings, greased the front end, put new exhaust gaskets on, put a new master cylinder on it, a new fuel line, and replaced the rag joint Original AM radio works and sounds good. Fix it up a little and drive as you go or a good candidate for a more comprehensive resto. Has its original hubcaps too...its really a very original wagon. Check out the pics of the engine compartment...all the ac is there and connected..original aircleaner..etc. Hard to find something 50 years old this complete. Most door panels are torn on the tops from the sun...front seat is more sun weathered than the back..maybe the back was folded down for years.. Its a low production Vista Crusier...and neat looking car..It has a clean CA "title only" in previous owners name...a "title only" means it isnt currently registered...
Not bad for a mostly stock mechanicaly and interior wagon, at 1st I thought it was a rare factory 2 tone, until I noticed it used to have a Red Exterior to match the Red interior. Rough, rough interior, and quite rusty for a CA AZ Car.
Or maybe it's because it's, you know, the back seat? Which means it doesn't have a windshield right in front of it allowing the sun to beat down on it for 47 years. It's very common for the back seat to be far less sun-damaged than the front seat in old cars that have sat outside for years, even for non-station wagons for which the second seat doesn't fold down. Much of that uneven wear is also due to the fact that, while the front seat is always sat in whenever a car is driven, the back seat isn't. What does this mean? He doesn't tell us if it's a 2 or 3-seater. Regardless, 1965 wasn't a particularly low production year for the Vista Cruiser. If anything, as '65 was only the second year for it, popularity was rising.
I believe he is correct in that assertion. Not too many came with the upside-down engine option. Makes oil changes easier.
The ole surfboard-on-the-roof look, huh. Quite interesting considering the car is in the middle of the desert.
Car last sold on ebay for $1525 last month and was a CA car. Does have some rust on the lower windshield area. There is rust on the inside arounf the roof glass. Headliner removed and some pitting on the rear sunvisors so it may have had some moisture issues (as they all would for sitting outside). 1965 was a common year unlike 1964. IMO, too high for a car that is not in driveable condition. A 3 seater would have raised the value up. Wayne
Well with all the rain we got here in the desert on Monday you actually could've surfed on Interstate 10 and allot of other places too!
