So its now the end of Jan, and I'm a full 3 weeks behind schedule.
mostly do to the Transmission bell housing needing to be welded and
a small fire in the local mountains that rained ash on us.
But now the paint is done, "painted her in my driveway"
and tomorrow wil be installing the 4r70 transmission, and also
swaping in the rear axle from my Ranchero.
Found a used but in good condition streering wheel, and
a roof rack so will go and pick them up later this afternoon.
They come from the President of the local So-Cal Galaxie club.
Finally had got the rear "tailgate" window out, what a fight that was
as the roller channels had bent a little so not easy to get out,
will weld them back into place. bought new rollers off of ebay..good price
and had the motor rebuilt.. got took on that one... but it works.
So hope by end of Sat I'll have the tranny in place along with
    the axle and window...
    Best
    Dave

So, is it going to be ready for the next 'Fabulous Fords Forever' show?

Throw up some more pics and let us know what's currently happening...

Also, if you want to go in-depth, I'd suggest you start a thread in the 'Projects' sub-section of the 'Cosmetics, etc' section.

Hey man, talk to me about the tailgate. I want to get into mine not only to potentially replace the weather stripper, but to figure out if the issue with the key lowering the glass is there as well as maybe get some POR15 and coat the inside.
The only way in that makes sense to me is to remove the interior panelling.
    Are there any gotchas awaiting?

For the rear window, the rear key switch doesn't raise/lower the window. The dash switch works. I thought I'd start by checking voltages at the rear key switch.

    tailgate

    Ok
so you will need to remove the access panel...
mine is just the oposite, the key worked but the dash switch
    did not and does not.
my window was up... what a hasle. the window is on the same
type of mech as the doors, a cross arm with rollers at the end
with two people, roll window down, open tailgate.
have one person hold the interlock switch down, then roll window
up, you can see the rollers, and by using a long object, unclip
the rollers, then pry the arms away from the window.
    then pull the glass out.
then you will see the motor and the key mech.
there is like 8 or so wires back there...
are you sure the key has its full motion, I'd try some WD40
and work the key..then if not working go ahead with the removel
get new rollers, Ebay... they fit many cars from that era.
I bought enough for the door windows also...
when you do get in there, make sure you clean out the bottom of
the gate realy well, make sure the drain holes a clear.
    Best
