We've seen this one before. With the concealed headlights and the light monitoring system, it would be perfect! There were reported a few L72(425 hp) cars made that year also. (y)

    Nice car!
Just checked the '69 Chevy brochure. You had a choice of 6 different V8's in this Caprice!

    Cubic Inches:....HP:......Carb type:....Fuel type:
    327.................235.......2 barrel..........Reg.
    350.................255.......4 barrel..........Reg.
    350.................300.......4 barrel..........Prem.
    396.................265.......2 barrel..........Reg.
    427.................335.......4 barrel..........Prem.
    427.................390.......4 barrel..........Prem.

Chances are, this Caprice has the 335 horse version. The 390 horse version was usually reserved for special orders and had some restrictions as to equipment you could order with it.

I saw that, and some other info on the '69 claimed that around 400 or so "large" Chevy's came with the "big naughty" 425 hp L72 :naughty: 427 :naughty: that year. Wonder if any of them were wagons?

    =========================
Back in them days, if you wanted to Special Order somethin & had the cash, you could........so VERY POSSIBLE!

The guys IMCA Modified I used to pit on's Dad had a friend that went down to the local Dodge dealership in 66 and SO a 66 Belvedere wagon, black on black, 426 HEMI, 4 spd, and posi rearend. MAN, WHAT THAT WOULD BE WORTH TODAY!!!

I also know of a guy over in Whittier, NC that has a complete 67 Impala Wagon with 427, T400, and 12 bolt rearend in his collection of various vehicles.......oh BTW: the 427 is on his speed boat ATM!

My Father has a 69 Townsman with the 425hp 427 with a M-20 4-speed, Bucket seats and a console, so it was a 7 Seat wagon. He could not get A/C with that engine, so we suffered thru 3 Corpus Christi Summers, sticking to the Black Vinyl interior!!!!!
But it died an ugly death with me in the passenger seat when my father almost hit a wrecker head on, he swerved back into his lane and the wrecker caught the drivers side rear 1/4, spun us into the ditch were we rolled over onto the roof. Hunting dogs and shotguns tumbling ontop of us.
Some how we all walked away sore, scratched and a little stunned. My dads favorate dog would not come near him for several days. Like he knew my dad almost killed all of us!
So I know 1 at least 1 wagon was built with that engine, only options remember it having we PB & PS (that may have been standard. My dad bragged about the disc brakes, Gauges, and it had a towing package, and a roof rack. and a power rear window. And tinted glass.
That car may be the reason I like Wagons. My Mother made my Father trade in his 63 E-type (we had 6 kids in the family) And that car was the last car my Father was allowed to order without my Mother present. being the youngest, I always had to ride in the space between the 2 rear seats when the entire family was going some were. Memories. Thanks for posting this car.
