Well said. I've always thought that's why you can still find some of the later whale wagons in great condition. When the wagon fell out of favor with the masses (replaced by mini-vans), the whales became more luxurious and expensive for people who could afford them, had garages and were generally not abusive drivers.

There's a principle at work here; I've always thought that it's much better to buy something second-hand from people who can afford to buy the good stuff, than to buy new junk at low-end stores. It's always better quality to begin with, and usually well taken care of. This applies to almost everything.

Buy a cheap piece of chinese-made furniture at wal-mart, or buy something used from a rich person who could afford the good stuff to begin with. It's a no-brainier for me.

You've got me looking at the luxury cars now. If one of these gems turns up nearby me, I'll probably jump on it. These things were built by people that were looking straight ahead. Lots of car for relatively little money. And, like you say maybe somedAy they'll be on collectors radar.

What you say holds true. Looking at the luxury cars is addictive.
I continue to do it just to see what pops up. Cadillac and Lincoln are best for low miles garaged cars. Glad you are "looking at the luxury cars now", is fun.

The more expensive cars were new the more propensity to find older ones that are decent. From what I see here at SWF, seems the same for wagons.

At 15 cars and 1 pickup no need to be web browsing cars. Parking is over commited. Still I do it.

76 Mark IV ships (trucks) from Lakeland Florida to Seattle area. Gotta wait for it and for 59 Villager to get done with its shop rounds.

Congrads, Finsrin! I bought a 1979 Mark V, was my dream car back in college days !! 55K miles, original paint and interior;was stored for 8 years; ahd all mechanicals done and overhauled, minor replacements of interior pieces, new brakes, new tires etc. Car is perfect -and then I fell into a 1965 Tbird Convertible! So I am selling my Mark V. I know this is not the place to advertise but if interested let me know.
