well,it's official. The WAYGONE will not be making the trip at this time.:banghead3::banghead3:. SSOOOOOOO frustrating! On the upside,i will be stopping in OHIO to pick up a tailgate from Alienwagon(new parts are always good, right?) Then back home and looking for the "right" replacement motor. My friend just offered me his 680hp 427 small block stroker beast say's he wants to see a wagon do a wheelstand:rofl2:! Think i'll keep lookin, say around 300-400 sounds a little better for what i need and a little fuel mileage!

Stick to a 350-400 small block that gets a decent fuel mileage.
Way to go on the tailgate. A tough item for any wagon. Tailgate can replace your son on the return trip.

Well all,the waygone didn't make it. After workin on the carb it ran great(still tickin like mad).loaded up,and hit the road.About an hour from home,it started running real bad. Then the carb caught on fire!:slap:SSSOOOOOOOO ended up with the darn mini van after all.:( On a positive note,I did make it to Youngstown Ohio and the way back and met a fellow longroofer,Alienwagon from this forum! Bought a new tailgate for the guts to fix the Waygones. Very nice guy and showed up in a poncho safari wagon to meet me! So,the mad cap road trip is over(for now) hopin to get a motor in it by october and make the pumpkinrun car show and cruise by me,then maybe (weather dependant) drive it to NY to pick up the kid for thanksgiving!

Wow, tough luck on the trip. Thank goodness the whole car didn't burn up. Glad everything worked out. There is always next time for a better experience.

You gave it your best shot!
I agree with the other comments; unfortunate that you couldn't take it, but SO lucky it didn't burn to thread ground and no-one got hurt.
