Well, I fear I'm not going to be able to come on and bs as much as I have lately. I started my new job last Saturday. I got hired as a sales rep at Malouf Ford in North Brunswick, NJ. My days off are Wednesday and Sunday, so I guess I can catch up then, but I'm working two twelve hour days, 1 eight hour, 1 9 hour and 1 8 hour for a total of 49 hours, assuming I get out on time, which one rarely does in the retail car business. It's pretty good so far; everyone seems to be friendly and cooperative, but I have to admit it is a bit disconcerting. I started as a sales rep in LA back in '78 and then became a manager in New Jersey in '82. Ever since then I was either a sales mgr, f & i mgr,or general sales manager until 2008, when I got out of that business and into theatrical production. Now, due to the economy and, perhaps, bad decisions on my part, I'm back to where I was 36 years ago. I guess I should just be happy to be employed, but I sure do miss the management aspect of things. I'll do my best to find the time to connect on the forum; you all have kept me sane during my being unemployed and I sure do thank you for that. Wish me luck!! Chris
Maybe I'll luck out and some elderly couple will come in and trade their 1972, 45000 mile Country Squire for an Explorer. Believe, you'll be the first to know!!
Well it's about time you lay about...I'm kidding...glad you found a job. I was thinking about having Xavier give you a few job hunting tips. So we'll be looking forward to your post on Wednesdays and Sundays then. Oh yeah since your employed now it's your turn to bring the beer... Congratulations Chris.
Congratulations and Good Luck, Chris! Just don't go offering $5,000 trade-in value on that rusty '67 Country Squire (unless it's got like 5 miles on the odometer...). I tried selling cars at a Ford dealer in 1975. I wasn't good at it.
Good luck on the new job. Watch out for the young whippersnappers, they'll steal sales right from underneath you. I worked 82 hours last week and still found time to get on the forum.
Best of luck. With your years of knowledge you will do very well driving repeat customers and that always causes senior management to take notice. Perhaps that managers role won't be too far off.
Congratulations on the new job! Fantastic news. The very best of luck. With your experience, my guess is that they hired you with plans for promotion in fairly short order.
Congrats on the new job Snoot. Too bad the other gig didn't work out for you. You shouldn't have any problem selling cars though. All of those years of experience and right now FORD is making the best vehicles it has in decades. Sounds like a good combo.
