Me too longroof, rather have A 2-door 58 than a 57 Chevy. Much cleaner without all of the extra shiny stuff.
Don't get me wrong, I still like Tri-five wagons. You can't beat a nice Nomad or a Pontiac Safari, but with prices forever going skyward, it makes it hard for the regular guy to afford. I love the Yeoman. They are quite rare, too.
Yes, $21500 is way out of whack, to say the least. Maybe with a frame off restoration and everything is brand new on it, maybe, maybe, $21,500, but no way in the condition it is. I don't know; this one looks like it's almost there, Olddragcars . I'd be hard pressed to give you a fair price on it. Thinking, maybe somewhere around $7-8 if all the work done so far is of a good quality, but frankly, I could be off. Have you decided to go for it, yet? Looks like it'll be a sweet '58.
I was told that the wagon went through an 8 year restoration and is 90% restored including a new engine (don't know what size). I'll have to install the bumpers, door glass and vent windows, door panels and antenna. Is the wagon in question up for $21,500? A very nice wagon with great paint and ready to drive could be bought cheaper than that.
No Cat, the blue one is one that KK knew about and they were asking the absurdly high price of $21500 for it. The gray one is the one that Olddragcars is looking at. We don't know how much they're asking on that one. You know what? Now, that I look at it again, I think I'm probably way low on what I thought the price should be. It seems to have a quality paint job and it's so close. I don't think $9000 would be too high.
Oh. I guess it is the posting that is gone. I realize $21,500 could be fair depending on what the wagon had done and how it looks. I'm still in shock when I see new car price. We bought houses cheaper!
The 4-dr '58 Brookwood looks like a cool wagon. It's got nice mechanical upgrades and wheels, the body looks straight and solid...but $21,500. seems kinda high. Maybe I'm not being realistic. I still wouldn't mind owning it though.
I want to thank all of you for you advice and support and to let you know that I went to the estate sale today and I am the new owner of the 1958 Yeoman wagon. When I saw the car in person I knew I had to have it. Then I opened the hood and there it was, a 348 Tri Power. But wait it gets even better, it's actually a FRESH build, bored and stroked with a 409 crank. But wait, it gets even better, the car went through a full body off rotisserie restoration, the bottom looks as nice as the top. I have to finish a few things, put some gas in and start it up, install the front bumper, door panels and a couple of other things. I can't wait to take it out for a drive
OMG! It can't get any better than that. SBC? Man that 348 is kool and the tri-power makes it super fine. I would have crapped when I looked under the hood.
Congrats! I would have been ho-hum about it if it had a 6 or a 283 in it, but the fact it's got a 348 is just the coolest thing. You're going to love it! Marshall
Congratulations! What a score...I'm envious. I was wondering what engine was in it. That's great having a correct 348 tri-power in it...What a cool unique ride..
My buddy Red and I went back to the estate sale today to pick up one of the cars I bought. I forgot to mention in my last post that I bought another car besides the 58, a 40 Plymouth sedan for my wife. If Momma is happy, things go a lot smoother in the garage. She fell in love with Willy's Gassers when we went to the Hot Rod Reunion last year. It's not as sexy as a Willy's but she loves it. It has a fresh 350, turbo 350 and a Nova front clip. Tomorrow we go back to pick up the 58 wagon, I can't wait!!!!!!
Congrats and that will be a sweet ride once you get it finished up and on the road. keep us up to date.
