Been working on 1961 Studebaker Lark hot rod. Is bottom of line 2dr sedan same as the 62 Lark. Had 259 2V V8. Greatly reinforced frame to take power of Ford 460 (now 466). Then powder coated frame. Four bar rear to keep it in place. Four wheel disk brakes. Fatman front clip. Home made 28 gallon stainless steel gas tank. 800cfm carb. Power rack-n-pinion steering. Electric fuel pump and lines are in. Brake lines are in. Trunk mounted A/C. Flaming River column. Banjo style steering wheel. Modified firewall, floor pan, trunk to fit over chasis mods. From firewall forward is 1962 lark fenders & front. 96 Mustang wiper motor with 77 Ford van interval controls. Original wiper motor mounting spot was cut out to clear 460. Had to devise another way to have wipers. Been crafting custom dash to hold new instruments. Have 2005 Mustang power seats which fit. Sizing 62 Merc and 59 Edsel sedan tail lights, might end up using something else. Moved fuel filler from left rear fender to behind flip mounted license plate. Got a lot done. Much left to do. Will end up with a Fordabaker. Last time I try anything thatz this involved. Not looking forward to electric wiring.
Wow, that's going to be some Lark when you get it done, new from the ground up it seems. Looks like you're well along on the project. Keep up the good work.
Lookin good. I would drive it like that. Looks too nice for a Stupidbaker body on it. Add a milk carton, seat belt, and go cruisin. We started to build a Dodgeabaker using a 440 out of our old motorhome in a 1950 Studebaker Commander. Gave up on that idea. Also we only have a carport or drive way to work in.
Yea right. We'll mark that down. When you get the Stude finished you need to restore a Studebaker plow and Studebaker covered wagon. I remember working part time at a filling station. Two brothers had first year Larks with I believe the 289 engines. Those things would out run many other cars. Brother-in-law had a 1957 Golden Hawk that was beautiful and fast. Had more gauges than an airplane.
