Hey Stick, welcome back. I, too, took a leave of abscence for a while. Nice to have you.
You sure are one ambitious long roof lover. I'm thinking you change engines like I'd change a flat. Good for you; idle hands, they say, are the devil's workshop and that ain't going to be anywhere around your place.
    Keep up the good work.

Quick update. I got a little done before having to get cleaned up to go get this car. Anyway I got all the accessories bolted up, fan belts and clutch fan on. The carb is bolted down but I may end up going back to Sarah's old carb as there are differences in the linkage. Which sucks as mine is cleaner and in a little better condition.

It's ALIVE!!!! Hey all the Hearse lives and is breathing fire. Literally. That happens with no exhaust lol. But it is running. I threw the distributor in and set it where I thought was good and it was damn near timed perfect. Had to take a light to it to make sure but ran great. Now we did have some problems getting to that point. The starter was making awful noises. At first I thought it needed to be shimmed. But it ended up needing to go the other way. We had to FILE the starter mounting flange. Still need to take off a bit more. Like WTH. Also have some belt squeal, but the adjusters are at their limit. So I need to check some of my spare belts just to check. BUT IT RUNS. Tomorrow if I am healthy it's exhaust time. That and addressing the starter and belts. But we are now set to be ready for a hearse show Sarah wants to do. Now I have found some problems I need to address. I looked at her front end bushings and think they could fail her at next inspection time if they really wanted to. So I am thinking of swapping the entire front suspensions between her car and my Olds. Sad to say I think it is headed for the scrap heap as no one wanted it as it was, and I can't blame them. It was my vision and few if any could see what that was let alone take it on as their own. And even stripped of all the special pieces just no interest. So I need to get off it everything I can and Sarah's car will be the reciptiant. She will also get the racing brake hoses and Porterfield racing brake pads and shoes. The Trans with shift kit is already out and in the garage as a spare. Anyway that is the update for today. Look for more hopefully tomorrow.

Congrats Stickman, it's with mixed emotions, I'm sure. But you are doing a great job with Sarah's hearse. Glad to hear it's running. (y)

I was actually down with migraines for like 2 or 3 weeks before being able to start on her car. And there have been some setback along the way. But the fact is it's getting done. Still a lot to be done though, thanx.

Yes it is. This will be the second racer I have put down, because I was the only one that could see the beauty and poise within. But I know my ideas and visions are out there so it is what it is.

Mazel Tov, it's a girl! Isn't it great when you're doing something major for someone and it all just comes together? The starter and belts are just details; the satisfaction is when you drop in the dizzy and crank her over and she fires immediately. So congratulations.

Dual exhaust is in. But the fan is rubbing the plastic shroud on the bottom, so that need to be trimmed. The torque converter cover was rubbing to so need to look at that. And we have a belt squeal. We think it's the A/C belt as that bracket is at the end of it's adjustment. But the exhaust sounds good. Should be able to test drive it tomorrow. Was a long day today.

Well kinda bored so I figured why not update this old thread. The car is fully lowered and has been for some time. Never did post pics. So here are a few.

Now for the Future we hope to get this car fuel injected. We have the MegaSquirt that was supposed to go on my Oldsmobile and never did. And we have bought a TBI unit off a 454 which has the 2 inch bores and 80lbs injectors, And we bought an adapter to mount the TBI directly to the Edelbrock intake. So should be an easy swap from carb to TBI.
