We went to pick up our three year old grandson this morning. On the way home(we were driving our Sonic) I told him we bought another car and he could see it when we got home. As we drove into the driveway he says, from the back sit, "I like your new car". From his car seat, in the back, all he would have been able to see was the front of Lil Sis. She is parked between the house and Fannie, in front of the garage. He couldn't wait to get out and go see her. What a remarkable little boy. And so a few pics... I can't wait to take him for a real drive in her, but he'll have to be a bit older to travel in the way back seat.
Do remember to advise the kid in safety regarding these older cars, not all of them have that gear shift lock (where a person must hold the brake pedal down to shift from park) that prevents accidents. There are at least five Rescue 911 episodes involving a kid shifting a car and one out of five ended up with a mailman stopping the car before it would've ended up in crossing traffic. (That really happened, the show was about re-enactments.)
What a cutie pie! If he plays his cards right, Gramma might give him the wagon in about 15 or so years....
Well, what's not to like? The kids always seem to be able to spot cool cars. As far as safety goes, as long as he's in his carseat/booster seat in the way back and buckled in he should be just fine, but that's up to you and his folks.
A little guy with a good eye for a ride , Fannie had better watch out and then what you gonna do Nanna Love your work and thanks for sharing
I predict a short life for the Sonic. You are going to fall in love with the wagon, and the little car will go 'bye 'bye! As for your Grandson, if Lil Sis does not have them, shoulder straps were a factory option for both the back and way back seats, so the mounts are there. If you cannot find the G.M. originals, the after market belts will bolt in very easily, and then he is safe in any position within the car.
What a lovely new wagon Fannie. Congrats! As for riding in the back, my 4 year old rides in the back of our Colony Park in his booster seat with the lap belt and it works out ok. Call me crazy or old-fashioned, but I tend to believe that if someone in one of these new plastic cars hits us, our wagon will win. Not that I want to tempt fate or anything for the sake of my son, or the wagon....
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! CUTE! She is parked between the house and Fannie, Did I miss something? I thought fannie was at the body shop????????????
No kidding, you didn't even take him for a ride around the block? What did you do after you showed him the car, make yourself a bowl of ice cream and eat it in front of the poor little kid? .................Just Kidding fannie, ya party pooper.....
Actually...this year at our car show one of the guys let Harley sit in his car. They weren't watching him and didn't have the park brake on. Harley hit the the shifter and the car starter to roll away, heading for a Caddy. A few of the cars guys caught it in time, no harm done and a lesson learned. Lil Sis's steering wheel and shifter was locked when he was in there. Thanks for the concern.
Thanks Mike, Lil Sis doesn't have the shoulder straps...I never thought of that... Good to know they'll go in easily. As for the Sonic, Hubby drives it most of the time, because of the gas mileage it doesn't have to worry about leaving any time soon. I drive the PU most days to work, it will be the one having a summer break, but will be back in service for the winter months.
This is good to know...I'm not sure what his parents would say...we'll see when the time comes. Thanks
