Quote from listing....... 1984 Caprice Estate Wagon NO RESERVE!! ORIGINAL! GORGEOUS! Yet seller who has zero bids at this time, has a starting bid of $8k with a BIN of $8.5k.............. so $8k is a reserve IMO http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-C...33dae195d&item=151358675293&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
Agreed, I don't like seeing a minimum bid price above $1000 or so and then claiming "no reserve". But this wagon, if it's as clean in person as in the pictures, is absolutely worth $8000 in my opinion. It has all the options, it has a good color combo (though with wood I'd prefer a tan interior or at least match the red from the paint), and it's low mileage. 2000 miles a year!
Technically, it IS a "no reserve" auction. The seller has simply stated a starting point for the auction other than $.01.
That is quite an impressive add. More should be like this. Nice wagon too. make someone a great long haul driver.
Well "technically" if your "no reserve" auction starts at $8k with a buy it now price of $8.5K.....you have made a "reserve" for it's sale. BUT, you do have to give seller credit for posting pictures that are viewable rather than some who post tiny pics witch can't enlarge and or a pic that is a very selective one. seller also seems to describe the car vey well, not posting it 2x for sale raising the price the second time to then disclose else where indirectly saying "it needed repairs to begin with, so I did it because............."....on a later date, having made no mention prior.
I actually prefer this approach to the secret reserve approach. If you won't accept a price below a particular figure don't waste my time bidding in an impossible situation. mike
Exactly, I all ways prefer a seller who states, "This is my bottom line", but no reserve = the final bid ends and you win weather $500 or $15.000, starting bids at $0.00 and who wins, the person with the highest bid. This is a Biding starts a $8k and will end $500 later. That's not a no reserve auction, that's a set price.
I think this is the fourth time on ebay. He stated around $11,000, most ended with bids in the mid seven thousands. His last auction was changed to a buy it now at $8,500 in the last day or two, with the threat that if it did not sell he would just keep it.
84 Caprice Yeah, I LOVE it when a seller will THREATEN to keep his car !!! When they state that, I ALWAYS move-on. It's just not right (IMO ) Just sayin'..........
Of course you are correct Tedy but working out in the retail arena I have learned to overlook a lot worse semantic and grammatical errors (sometimes even my own) mike BTW love you puppy dog animations.
