I was at the Denver Auto Show yesterday and was surprised by the amount of wagons and the interest they were receiving. The usual Saab, Volvo, Audi and Hyundai were represented. I would say that the Ford Flex and Toyota Venza are more station wagon than SUV in my opinion. Cadillac even had a wagon. I also noticed, but not surprised the American SUV's weren't getting much attenion. I don't see my self buying a new car anytime in the near future but would have to say I really like the 2010 Ford Taurus, especcially the SHO. Too bad they don't offer that in a wagon.

I still find it hard to believe that we will be getting a Caddy wagon.

Yeah - your mainstream regular-sized SUV's (Explorer, et al; Trailblazer, et al) arn't selling much anymore. Chevy is about to drop the Trailblazer completely, since it's basically been superceded by the Equinox and Traverse on unit platforms. Ford is getting ready to bring out an all-new Explorer on a unit platform for the first time - and with no V8's available.

Wagons COULD be making a modest comeback, but few of them will actually be labeled 'station wagons', as that connotation seems to be a deal-killer for a lot of people. (At least the marketing whiz kids think so.)

The Subaru Outback is actually the originator of the current shift to near-station wagon vehicles. Make a station wagon body, but hike it up about two or three inches to make people think they actually have an SUV.

Cadillac seems to be the only make willing to buck that trend, with their CTS Sportwagon. No SUV pretensions there. I've seen it in the flesh, and I must say it's a very odd configuration for the wagon part of it - huge 'D' pillars and very tiny back side windows make it seem almost hearse-like in the rear.

I still don't see much in the new vehicle market that I would be interested in owning, wagon wise.

I would like to think of my 2008 Jeep Patriot as more of a wagon and less of an SUV. It is labeled as a "crossover vehicle" which I would like to think that to a marketing ploy to mask station wagon. The Jeep is FWD and has a relatively low stance and entrance, it reminds me a lot of the Jeepsters of the past.

--- I forgot about the Taurus X. That IS actually one new vehicle I might consider (if I was looking). I actually prefer its styling over the Ford Flex, which is built on the same platform and will supercede it for 2010, as the Taurus X is being discontinued.

I've heard people saying."Why would anyone want chrome on a car?!.You get one little dent in it and ruins the whole look of the car." I guess a dent in a car with no chrome on it doesn't ruin anything...Before I got done typing that last sentence,I realized all us chrome lovin' sons of witches would answer that with; no,no it wouldn't.;)

They make some chrome looking bits (front grille, side moldings, bumper covers) to stick on that particular jeep but I am unsure if I want to go that route with it. It is more of the wife's ride than it is mine, unless my wagon is down I don't see myself driving it much. Making a woody out of it is an option, at least it was the last time it was discussed.

They don't make an actual kit for my Jeep but I am sure I could manage.:)
